festival music early ciuc miercurea Cipriana Smărăndescu harpsichord Dedicated to Nature, the programme consists of Baroque music that is both enchanting and evocative. The most appropriate natural musical setting for a theme of this kind can be none other than French harpsichord music, which is able to paint moments and states of nature. The evocation starts from an extremely suggestive and virtuosic work, Le Vertigo by Pancrace Royer, passing through Les Ondes and Les Baricades Mistérieuses by François Couperin, to Les Sauvages by Jean Philippe Rameau. These are a few moments that paint the natural inspiration of musical Baroque, in one of its most sensitive and attractive aspects for the public, that of French music dedicated to the harpsichord.
Cipriana Smărăndescu studied harpsichord under Patrizia Marisaldi (Vicenza) and Ogneanca Lefterescu (Bucharest), while Ton Koopman, Andreas Staier, Patrick Ayrton and Pierre Hantaï also contributed to her artistic development. She won or participated in important international harpsichord competitions in Milan, Pesaro, Leipzig and Brugge. She has performed in Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Germany, recording for the Romanian public television TVR and Radio, Radio Vaticana, Aliusmodum Records. As a soloist she recorded 2 compact discs: Invenzioni, Sinfonie e Sei Piccoli Preludi by Johann Sebastian Bach and Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach. She is the founder of the Baroque ensembles Aliusmodum and Dolci Accenti. She holds a degree in musicology with a thesis on Domenico Scarlatti. Currently teaching at the Urbino Giovani and Cristóbal Galán Baroque Academies in Rome, where she founded the Aliusmodum Youth Harpsichord Academy and is on the jury of several international harpsichord competitions.
