SITE ANALYSIS Project 01
The Proposed Site for this project is located at Pusat Gelandangan Medan Tuanku, Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur. Medan Tuanku is a major area in downtown Kuala Lumpur. Jalan Medan Tuanku and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman are the primary roads in this area. Medan Tuanku borders Dang Wangi to the east and south and Chow Kit to the north. Most of programs around the site is businesses (commercial) facilities buildings. In this Project 01, we are seperated into different groups to conduct the site analysis at the site given and show the findings.

The idea of relating a building to its context represents a basic understanding of designing architecture on a site. This assignment will explore the fundamental part of the design process: identifying and utilizing the basic site elements of a place such as wind, sun, rain, and senses. This initial exercise is designed to provide students with an understanding of the site and associated with this project and studio. It is to examine student’s ability in recognizing a potential site/space to be adapted and further develop into an architectural space with a specific client/ function.

THE ‘CASE STUDY’ Project 02B
The purpose of a precedent study in architecture is to understand what has been done before and use that knowledge to help define and develop design concepts. Even more important is to understand and convey the ideas and concepts behind the work. As a designer, background and experiences are extremely important, as these experiences influence what you bring to each design. The precedent study is a valuable criterion and guideline to expand and supplement these personal experiences. As you know more and understand what, why, and how great architects have designed, you will be capable of producing a richer and more meaningful design solution.

YOUTH SKILLS CENTER Project 03
1
This semester we have chosen to work closely with Dignity for Children Foundation, a non-governmental organization that provides holistic care and education for poor urban children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dignity for Children Foundation currently operates six (6) Transformational Enterprises: eat X dignity, cut X dignity, sew X dignity, art X dignity, grow X dignity and wellness X dignity. The students are required to design a Youth Skills Centre that brings together the best of academic learning and hands on, real world experiences for a vibrant education that meets the needs of each youth while serving the neighbouring community. It seeks to truly dismantle the walls between traditional classrooms and the real world, creating a youth-friendly space with multiple outlets for different and meaningful expressions of creativity and learning in an urban community. In addition, the center must redefine areas of human interaction with architecture in creative manners with the programs in tandem with interactive, multidisciplinary academic classes where youth drive their learning, facilitated by a team of educators.

1 DESIGN INTENTION / CONCEPT / IDEATION Project 03A Design Intentions are like goals or objectives you set to achieve in your design project. These intentions will underpin your project, and you will ensure that you must not run away from your design intentions as you move along the design process.

PROGRAMS , SCHEDULE OF AREA & SITE & SPACE PLANNING Project 03B Find out spaces and functions needed according to your chosen enterprises Choose appropriate programs to generate income according to your enterprises. You are required to prepare the schedule of area for your design. Prepare overall idea for site planning. All diagrams must be hand drawn and can be scanned for your board. Produce a bubble diagram that is properly labelled and indicates the relationship of the spaces and their criteria.
