✿✿A GRAND DESIGN 150cm wide soft finished 60gsm 95% polyester 5% spandex, Lightweight dress and blouse fabrics, they have a lovely hand and superb draping qualities but it really is a superb soft finish comfortable blouse fabric. It comes in designs: a) Geo Lime – Blouse fabric in an all over abstract design in black/white and lime green. It’s not a stark design much of the black runs into grey.

148cm wide, black 98% poly, 2% wool, elastane suiting which absolutely reeks of magnificence. The composition allows it to be abused but still hold its shape without creasing. If you’re buying, get this one.

b) Geo Coral – Blouse fabric in an all over abstract design in black/white and coral. It’s not a stark design much of the black runs into grey.

140cm wide, lightweight basket weave pure new wool jacketing, warmth without weight, with a lovely feel, a bargain in todays climate it comes in:

c) A Likely Story – In navy blue with a fairly sparse but all over floral design in many shades of pink and some green, very striking, wonderfully elegant and beautiful to wear, I imagine. (Picture on back page).

They are only small and they in different shades of blue and some white, fabulously soft. e) Heavenly – Supremely soft, light and floaty, 97% polyester 3% spandex dress fabric in a lovely mid grey with an all over beautifully coloured floral print, You won’t want to take this off. It’s very lightweight so will need lining for skirts and dresses.

✿✿ALA GREQUE This 150cm wide fine polyester dress fabric comes in a shade of dark khaki/olive which to my mind goes well with olive skin; mind you we will be hoping that it goes well with white skins as well as other coloured skins. I am told that it is a fairly fashionable colour and having checked up on that a little bit I can see that is used in fairly high class looking big legged trouser type garments. I’ll bet it’s a delight to wear.

✿✿BE BOLD 130cm wide 97% cotton 3% elastane, dress fabrics in wonderful big bold abstract designs. a) Done To – Wavy line design in blue, white, black, red and taupe.

The depth of the lines varies but they are uniform and are in sort of panels 5 of which appear across the cloth. Extremely attractive and bold as you like, love it to bits, Ascot or Aintree, take your pick. b) Same But Different – Abstract design but this time in blue, black, kingfisher, beige, and cream. This is an all over, suppose you might call it chris cross design but being quite large doesn’t give too much of that impression, Quite possibly for the young at heart.

F ✿✿FARAWAY SHORE 150cm wide 40% cotton 30% polyamide 30% nylon dress/lightweight suiting cloth in a design that might be found on some exotic island where the sea meets the shore. If it was all in shades around some of our shores it would look like Morecambe Bay on a bad day but as it is in pink with lots of ripples in the extremely colourful but quite dainty weave pattern. There’s an awful lot of expensive and beautifully coloured yarn in this cloth.

✿✿FARMERS BALL I can remember a time being invited to a young Farmers ball, which really was a youtherism for a wild and beardy get together for a young lad.

Most of them came from a farming background but others were not, which gave way to the saying that farmer balls were rough, but whatever these lads were up to, at the crack of dawn the following morning they were up regardless of the state they went home in, and contrary to the believe at the time, these lad were very well dressed, so they wouldn’t have been in a cloth I’m about to talk about. We’ve got a little range, only three in fact of cotton canvas trousering of different weight and different colours but all enormously strong. a) Stone – The first one is quite the toughest that comes in a very pale stoney colour. This fabric is truly beautiful and fabulous to wear. a) Boa Blue – In a French navy blue in an all over colourful falling feather print in nice contrasting blues, a bit of orange, lime green, everything about this cloth suggest floatyness, also in black. b) Boa Black – In a black background with an all over colourful falling feather print in lovely contrasting greens, orange, lime green and a little bit of yellow. Everything about this cloth suggests floatyness. c) Big Chief – This Fabric as a beautiful pattern in probably lots of tiny feathers in black, beige, white and pink in rows down the cloth is quite beautiful.

✿✿FREE REIGN 150cm wide, quite splendid polyester crepe in cream, this quite large all over somewhat stylised floral design in lilac, purple, magenta, grey and black. Very striking. £9.50 per metre

✿✿FROM THE ARTISTS PAGE These designs come straight from the artists page and onto the cloth, digitally printed designs in stunning colour palettes onto beautiful quality cotton lawn these really are rather special. a) Kaleidoscope – unusual tiny leaves print in deep dark navy blue on white background. Pattern goes in a kaleidoscopic way making cloth very interesting. b) Humming birds – Floral dragonfly and insect design in lots of lovely muted shades and tones of blue, mustard, green, white, a little bit of rust and some other darker colours, and what I presume is a humming bird, Nice. c) Palm Springs – Palm leaf design in navy blue on a white background and each leaf is around 15cm long and 5cm wide, It’s a fairly large design, but still fairly subtle due to the arrangement of the leafs, just a hint of pink here and there within the leaves. d) Meghan – Is a fairly sprawley floral design, in gentle shades of pink, peach, grey, darker pink, little bit of turquoise, all on a pale grey background liberally stuttered with tiny white polka dots. e) Snowdrop – An explosion of vibrant colour in this large floral and frond design on a brilliant white background. f) Perennial Splendour – An exploration of vibrant colour in this large floral and fond design on a dark navy background.

a) Silk Chiffon – The first is a beautiful 140cm wide black silk chiffon fabric. This is not dead flat - there is a subtle and lovely crinkle to it.

145cm wide 80% viscose 20% polyester cloth, so soft it’s almost limp.

Vaguely beigey pink/silver and black yarns in a regimented but still fairly random abstract pattern for loose tops and dresses, big trousers. This could be made up either way, ie more clack or more silver. It’s extremely doubtful that you would make anything tight fitting from this.

I ✿✿IF I WERE A CARPENTER 150cm wide, quite dense but still fairly light, polyester scuba jersey in black with an all over flower and leaf print in cerise green, lilac, lime, green, a bit of cream and beige. Not a flower you can put a name to, just flower shapes, truly is a lovely cloth. If I was my granddaughter I’d love a pair of leggings made out of this.

✿✿IN THE RAW 145cm wide, cotton, almost hessian in cream which has the bare minimum done to it, this means it’s been scoured, washed and shrunk but that’s about it. Lots of slubbiness in the yarns, adding to the rugged appearances.

While the cloth is very strong, it’s not farmers bridges sort of thing.

✿✿ITALIAN SHIRTINGS We are lucky to get these from a famous maker of high end shirts, we get what we get and today we have to offer the following beautiful range of the finest Italian made cotton shirtings: a) Italian Muslin – 150cm wide very fine, very soft almost gauze like cotton fabric made up of navy blue and white yarns in a little bit of a fancy weave. b) Dash, Dash – fine Italian cotton shirting in a tiny dash, dash, dash pattern in lilac, white and dark olive yarns. c) Blue Skies – 150cm wide fine cotton poplin in sky blue, when did you last see a blue sky? d) Ladder Pinstripe – Beautiful poplin in a navy and ivory ladder pinstripe design. e) The Denim Effect – Exceptionally fine cotton flannel in a lovely mixture of yarns but the overall colour is a blue/grey denim effect, it has a feeling of a brushed cloth but whether they put something this fine through a machine to do this I find hard to believe. f) A Bonny One/Whisper – 150cm wide superfine cotton sateen in a grey and cream fine stripe not over done on the satin front just a nice pleasant sheen. g) Grey Herringbone – Denim Shirting 150cm wide fine cotton lawn in a marled grey with pale grey and darker grey yarns. h) Black – 142cm wide fine but substantial cotton poplin in black.

J ✿✿JACQUARD JERSEY 150cm wide big black jersey fabric made of two cloths joined at the hips as it were. The base fabric is black and then onto the face attached by yarns either above or below is a grey all over dense"floral” pattern, all in all it makes a fairly chunky but not too thick of a fabric. Ideally suited either for cardicoat or tailored jackets, pencil skirt. Wonderful.

✿✿MOST UNUSUAL Two rather special and interesting polyester jacquard dress fabrics : a) Two Faced – which at first glance appears to be a broad stripe cloth in turquoise, yellow and red with some leafy markings. On turning the cloth over however I notice the cloth is black and the leafy markings are in red, yellow, turquoise, green and cream and obviously the b side but the reverse with the stripe is not to be sneezed at. Essentially what you’ve got is a black polyester cloth which has got some black markings on it, on top of which are woven in are these beautiful leafy sort of shapes, in these fabulous colours, once again a jacket from this will look absolutely tremendous. If you have seen Suits season 6, Donna had a fitted dress in something very similar. b) Dancing Queen – This is another fabulous and unusual jacquard cloth in that its 145cm wide made of polyester and some shiny lurex yarn. It comes in black with the dancing figures of ladies, not girls but ladies in gowns in pink, lilac, lemon turquoise, not actually dancing but in poses inviting dance, a bit like what I used to do, in my post acne period.

They are made of nylon, are very water resistant, windproof and breathable.

O ✿✿ONCE UPON A TIME We have been storing for some time these crepe fabrics, they came to us about a year ago from a maker of ladies wear that sadly is no longer, hence we have the cloth. There is only a roll or so of each of them, most of which are narrow at approximately 112cm/44” which is an indicator of the age of these fabrics, i.e. they were not produced recently, don’t let to put them off, they are in tip top condition. As with all crepes, these will make up into dresses and skirts and less formal jackets, We will start with the 3 wider ones and move to the narrow: a) Pale Aqua – Is a fairly fine crepe with again some interest in the weave. b) French Mustard – Is 146cm wide plain but with weave interest in straw like mustard colour. c) Royal – Is a plain crepe, this time in a lovely deep royal blue.

All seriously top end and all things of beauty and all 150cm wide. a) Dark Berry – Is in what would be described as a dark berry colour which I believe to be damson. Whatever it is, it’s beautiful and it’s made of 84% very fine wool and 16% mohair. How do you know these things, well you’ll just have to take my word for it, as we’ve had to take the manufacture’s word for it. The addition of mohair gives the cloth a little bit of different hand and if anything a slight denser weave. £21.00 b) Dark Teal – In a glorious shade of dark teal this time 90% woollen and 10% mohair, very fine virtually un-creasable, an absolute delight to put on. £21.00 c) Virgin – Is a deep black really fine virgin wool suiting which has an adulterated beautiful hand, beautifully finished and will suit these who don’t like even like black. £18.00 d) Black Herringbone – This is another black pure new wool suiting with the finest herringbone weaves, for those who want to be plain but have to have something different. £21.00

It was also a time when they had cloths such as these and these are in fact very modern versions of moleskin. They vary in density and weight as you will gather as we go along. It is just a little bit more country than that but still wonderfully light, beautifully soft and altogether delicious. d) Highlands – 150cm wide, Yorkshire made highland inspired herringbone tweed in a mixture of heather coloured yarns.
