Thank You Shout Out!!

The Air Show is one of our largest fundraisers for the year. There were 62 private organizations applying to work 41 of the possible concession stands. The Private Organization office paired up organizations so that everyone could participate. We were fortunate to work with the First Four Organization, whose volunteers cooked the chicken tenders & french fries. We sold over $11,000 over the weekend and the SOSC will receive 10% of the proceeds. The weather was pleasant & we had lots of time to meet new friends. Thanks to the support of the Kohls’ Associates in Action program, we will receive an additional $500 from our fundraiser. All proceeds will be deposited on our Charitable side for scholarships, scholastic grants & charitable distributions. Thank you to the following volunteers that were so generous with their time and talents: Deb Arquiette, Andrea Barnes, Amy Bogan, Yvonne Callaway, Carol Carlson, Angela Cawdery, Sheri Chandler, Wayne Clough, Katy Cole, Bea Donelson, Tammye Gerdes, Kristin Gittner, Susan Green, Marcie Hermann, Tony &

“Bloom Where You’re Planted” September Luncheon Highlights The September luncheon was a huge success! We had 130 members attend, new vendors, wonderful singing, and a fantastic speaker! Mary Engelbreit was so inspired after our event that she went home to her studio and started working on more cards! We asked Mary for a comment about the day: “Will and I were so impressed with the optimism and can-do spirit of everyone we met! Neither of us can imagine having to start over as often as you all do, but everyone seemed to be great friends at the luncheon, whether they just met or had been there for a

while. And we instantly felt like old friends, too! Thanks so much for inviting us!”

Let’s keep Blooming Where We Are Planted...we never know whom we may touch with our daily lifestyles.

SOSC & SOSC Budgets Thank you for your recent vote on the updated budgets. We apologize that there wasn't more discussion regarding the changes. We wanted to make the changes more apparent, so we listed the actual expenses from last year, the approved May vote & then the proposed changes for the fall. Please take a look at them on the SOSC website. For the social side, we added the vendor table income and advertising income to the budget & moved the opportunity sales over to the charitable side. The major changes on the Charitable side were adding the opportunity income and including a line for the Kohl’s Donation. We also detailed out the Charitable donations with a small amount left over for unexpected requests throughout the year.

Constitution & By-Laws The 2012-2013 Executive Board spent many hours over the summer on the constitution & by-laws. They researched the SOSC papers from 2004-2006, 2011-2012 as well as a template provided from the AFOWC. Using all three documents the board came up with new, very detailed, constitution & by-laws. Many thanks for the votes at our event on September 12. Please look over the documents as they provide information regarding membership, attending events, committee members and POC’s, etc. For more information, check them out at www.scottosc.com.
