Crescent Elementary Hires New Secretary

We said farewell to Birdie. Now welcome Sherry Poloncic who is taking her place as the elementary school secretary. We asked her to tell us about herself...I have been a CBCSD employee since August 2010 and spent my first two years as a special education paraprofessional at Walnut Grove Elementary. I was blessed to work with some awesome SPED teachers who I will miss greatly but when the opportunity came to transfer to Crescent I jumped at it! I grew up in Crescent and am an alumni of Crescent Elementary. I moved from Crescent when I was married in 1979 and lived in Omaha and Council Bluffs before returning to Crescent in 2010. My husband Mark and I enjoy gardening, golf, and our two grandchildren Joshua (4) and Delanie (2). We have been married for 33 years have two daughters - Robyn (Justin) Davis in Omaha and Nikki (Keith) Clausen in Crescent. I spent 30+ years as an IT professional in Omaha where I enjoyed careers at FDR and ACI. I was blessed to travel extensively internationally during my business career which has provided me with irreplaceable experiences. When I was offered an early retirement package I was ready to try something completely different! My youngest daughter is a 6th grade teacher at Lewis Central and she strongly suggested applying at the school because you get the summers off! And here I am. I love kids and admit that the past two years have been more fun than the 30+ I spent in the business world. I love what I’m doing and am excited to be back at Crescent school. I am looking forward to meeting all the students and working with the parents and teachers. —Sherry Poloncic

Meet Bo!

That’s short for Bodacious. He’s the “guard dog” at Crescent Feed and Seed. Bo is pretty impressive with a resume to prove it. He’s been in a few dog shows and received Reserve Placement certificates... which means he’s right up there with the first place winners. He’s a real sweetie so stop in and give him a pet. While you’re there, check out the wide variety of food and supplies for indoor pets, too.
