#1 IMPROVE ENERGY
The confidence you search for is already within you. You know how to talk, laugh, smile and have fun with friends. This is the authentic energy that will make you shine when speaking… not trying to be something you are not.
IDEAS TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR ENERGY
Record yourself presenting and watch it back. How would you describe your energy?
Are you a low or high-energy presenter? Tap into the positive qualities of your energy rather than try to be something you are not. Become aware of your best qualities when you are speaking confidently in your personal life. Who is it to? What do you do/ say?
How do you feel? This is your Presenting Power; bring it into your work presentations, and you will stand out from the rest. Reduce mood suckers (monotone voice, flat body language, overtalking, nervous behaviour) and let your best energies shine. Add warmth, character and curiosity to your voice.

#2 IMPROVE CONFIDENCE
Confidence is a biggie when speaking. It runs deep. And when you lose it, it can be overwhelming; both in the moment and when you think back. But confidence is just a belief based on the stories you have lived. And all stories can be re-written when you get to the source.
IDEAS TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR CONFIDENCE
Map out your confidence. What is the trigger that makes you fearful?
When, where, why and with whom does it happen?
When you are triggered, what do you think? Feel? Do? What happens to your body?
Turn the downward spiral into an upward spiral by making changes (boosts) in different areas. What can you change about the situation to make it more comfortable? How can you reduce your internal pressure to be something you feel you are not? How can you change your actions to calm your nervous system?
Let go of your ego. Make the presentation about the audience, not you. Detach from the outcome and be OK with whatever happens. Be aware of negative, attached thoughts (I should…, I must …, I have to…). However much you believe them, they are not true, so let them go.

#3 IMPROVE INFLUENCE
If you want to be a master of influence and persuasion, you have to stop thinking about what you say from your perspective. Instead, put yourself in the audience’s shoes and write your presentation entirely from their perspective.
IDEAS TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR INFLUENCE
What you say should not be about you. Plan what you are going to say from the point of view of the audience (yep- even for interviews). Give people three strong reasons to do something, and they will be convinced. Tap into their goals, their motivations, and their problems. See yourself as the Flower, not the Bee (see your mini-series videos for more info).
Use positive, enthusiastic language and deeply believe in what you are saying. The more you believe it, the more they believe it. Once you have convinced them, close by stating the action you want them to take. Be bold, be strong, be assertive and ask for it all.

#4 IMPROVE IMPACT
The greatest presentations are educational, entertaining and inspiring. Memorable messages, an influential voice and charismatic delivery are all things that can be learnt, grown and mastered by anyone. Yes… that includes you!
IDEAS TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR IMPACT
Create clear, memorable messages that ring loud in the audience's ears.
Map out your key messages and make sure you are repeating them regularly.
Remember to add feeling and emotion to your presentation through personal stories, humour and vulnerability. This is what the audience will remember- how you made them feel.
Tap into the “power of three” to make your presentation feel, look and sound complete.
Film your voice and body language and watch to it back. Play around with it, adding influence, energy and charisma.

#5 IMPROVE CREATIVITY
People’s attention spans are short. Within a few minutes, they will decide whether they want to listen to you or not. Creativity is the only thing that will get (and keep) your audience’s attention.
IDEAS TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR CREATIVITY
Check the calendar invite and title of your presentation. Does it say “Meeting with xxx”, “Project update” or “Presentation of Proposal”. Yawn. Choose a title that gets the audience excited to hear how you can help.
The first few minutes set the scene. Don’t just say hello, run through an agenda, then move to the content. Start by doing something interesting (a creative hook) that connects you and the audience. Stories capture attention and help connect on a deep, empathetic level. Find personal, relevant stories, pepper them with emotion and sensory detail and use a storytelling arc so they feel complete.
If you are just presenting slides, you are performing at 5%. Use visuals, media, handouts, questions and audience interaction. Be bold, be brave, be creative!
