WELCOME to a new Rockstart Answers Amsterdam edition. ‘Two years ago, when attending a big conference for entrepreneurs, I was sitting in the audience, listening to a keynote. Everybody around me was working on their mobile devices. That didn’t make sense to me. I thought it was a wasted opportunity to actually do something. To use our knowledge, make new connections. I missed any form of action. That’s when I got the idea for Rockstart Answers.’ Rockstart Answers is important for startups, and for other organizations in the startup space. So thanks for coming, and enjoy! - Gregor Noltes Rockstart ROCKSTART ANSWERS AMSTERDAM

“Give. Learn. Create.” KPMG’s Early Stage Technology Group (EST) bridges the gap between disruptive tech companies and the enterprise. The focus lies on two types of innovation driven enterprises: fast growers and additive technology (technology that is beneficial to corporate clients). We are blending in the startup ecosystem to give back, to learn and to create new products and services in a joint effort. Don’t be a stranger, we are here to help.

How can we get more users to contribute more in our app? You have to give the ‘iKringloop experience’ a face. Possible ideas: Track 5 items, and show how they went from A to B (videos, interviews) Make the app more fun: think about the hot/not feature in Tinder, make it easy to recommend items to friends. Think about how you can get non-tech savvy potential users (seniors, less wealthy people) on the platform? And: show what’s been shared. Good luck!

How do we effectively position and market our product nationally? Position Games4Groups by offering unique (not necessarily customized) but revolutionary game formats. Protect your IP rights. Market your games by making ‘social sharing’ a standard feature of your games. Reward people/companies by giving them premium online content. Games are about emotions; capture these in high-quality visuals. Offer free games on big B2B conferences. Dive into all the answers, there’s a lot of good stuff in there!

How do we make Qlever viral? You’re not far enough to ask this question yet, Qlever. You first have to make your product work before you start a viral campaign. Keep the communication strategy for B2B and B2C strictly apart, now this is confusing. Get rid of the hardware part for the retailers, this is a big barrier for them. You may find growth opportunities in whitelabeling the solution in retailer’s apps. Maybe ask the question again in 6 months?

How can we shorten the sales cycle when it comes to selling big data? Olery, we think you should clear the verb ‘big data’ from your vocabulary. Focus on your product. If your translation from data to information to knowledge to wisdom is that good, partner with, or better, become an authority on intelligence in hospitality. Give your clients a taste by showing them their weaknesses compared to their peers. Sell them your solution: competitive advantage in hospitality.

Better focus on free-model user growth or ride the VOD wave? If you want to ride the VOD wave, WappZapp, didn’t you already miss it? You’ll have a tough time competing with Netflix. So don’t compete, distinguish. Focus on innovating your free model with something unique that will remain relevant. Do what you do best: curated content. If you want to include VOD, considered a future commodity, you’ll have to go big or go home. Scale. Offer both freemium and premium. People are willing to pay for value.

“I’m a mentor at Rockstart. I share my knowledge with them. I come here, not so much to ‘get or receive something’, but to share stories and create a different perspective of life.” - Esther E. Gons Wilg

“We are a startup ourselves and I would like to pitch in the future at Rockstart Answers, because the feedback and the ideas that come up are very valuable. We help people to find their passion and are just working out the businessplan details. Rockstart Answers would be a welcome addition.” - Jeroen Klijberg MySwitch 46
