10th October, 2017 Reflection Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you. (St Paul in his letter to the Philippians)

Dear Parents and Students, Welcome back to Term 4. It’s going to be a busy time for Year 12 students and their families as we are into the last two weeks of Year 12 classes. On Friday week, we are celebrating our Year 12 Graduation Mass at St Catherine’s which we are looking forward to. Over the holiday break, the construction zone was set for the new Multi-Purpose Hall which is being built in the south west corner of the property. The MPH is expected to be constructed and ready for use at the start of Term 3 next year. Mark Sheehan Principal

From the Deputy Principal (Staff) Term 4 Welcome back to all students and families for the start of Term 4. 2018 Subject Selections Thanks to all families in supporting their students in their 2018 subject selections. Initial Year 12 Subject allocations were sent home at the end of Term 3 and changes will need to be finalised this week. Families need only return forms to the office if requesting a change. Current Year 10 and 9 students will be interviewed over the next weeks to finalise their Year 11 / 10 electives for 2018. Once completed 2018 Year 11 and Year 10 initial confirmation letters will be sent home. Current Year 8 students will then be followed up for their Year 9 electives. Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews Thanks to all families who attended these interviews – I am sure the conversations proved useful to parents, students and staff. Please feel free to provide any feedback to me on the format and operations of the interviews. Morning Entry Please note that we have changed the gate entry points that students enter in the morning. Students will continue to use Pedestrian Gate 8 (Front Office) but will now use Gate 2 (Pedestrian Gate 2) rather than Gate 4. This will remove the problem of some students entering through Car-park Gate 1. Basketball Courts With commencement of the construction of our new Multi-Purpose Hall, we have needed to remove our 3 Basketball courts at the back of the College. We are endeavouring to provide alternative options. John Christie Deputy Principal (Staff) VCAL and Vincit 2018 Letters will be sent out to parents/guardians in the coming weeks. Susan Henry VCAL/Vincit Coordinator Year 9 Rite Journey A Year 9 Rite Journey class, consisting of 19 young women, decided to host a week September 11 – 15, of lunchtime activities for other girls and young women to provide awareness for women who experience violence and abuse. The theme of the week, was ‘VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN: STOP IT AT THE START’. The activities were run to show the girls to be strong and active. There were a variety of activities with Netball on Monday, a Dance workshop on Tuesday, a Self-Defense workshop on Wednesday, Basketball on Thursday, and AFL on Friday. There were many participants for all the activities, with 50-60 interested in netball and basketball, 40 for dance, and 25 for self-defense and AFL. All the activities were organised and run by the group, and had been planned over a number of weeks. On Wednesday, there was also a Bake Sale with all the food being prepared by the group. There was also fairy floss and popcorn for sale on Friday. By the end of the week, $200 dollars had been raised for McAuley Women's Community, who support women and children experiencing violence from their family. After the successful week of events, the group was proud of what they had achieved. Danielle Cimarelli 9 Reed
