LOVELAND BUSHTALES - XMAS EDITION 2020 Hello to all our readers. You will notice that our organisation has not been active in the Craytales for a while, but this does not mean that we haven’t been working tirelessly behind the scenes, rescuing and saving wildlife.

providing triage, vet assessment and stabilisation, before handing on to other members of MMaP. 2020 has been a particularly busy year with wildlife admissions, and this is what prompted me to join MMaP. Since January 2020, I have had 68 admissions, including 24 joeys. Back in April this year, LFW was successful in acquiring a $10,000 grant from WIRES, for use by organisations in drought-related regions, and following the catastrophic brushfire’s over East. This grant money was allocated to feed, fuel costs, milk formula, vet bills and medications. We are very fortunate to now have a full-time vet in Jurien Bay, and with the large number of wildlife admissions this year, many have come in with horrific injuries, requiring extensive X-rays treatments and medications, and in lots of cases, euthanasia has been required. Sincere thanks to Hannah and staff at Wheatbelt Vet Services for their compassion and assistance with wildlife. Naturally, vet costs and medications do not come cheap, and all of our allocated grant money for these costs has now been used up. Without on-going funds, carers will be required to pay these costs out of their own pocket. Please support our donations tins which are located around town, as it is these contributions which will provide ongoing funding for medical costs for our beautiful wildlife Please know that help is available. If you find sick, injured or orphaned wildlife, call myself, Sheryl Wilson, on 9652 1027, all hours, or contact the Jurien Vet on 9652 1973.

Following a revamp of rules and regulations for Wildlife Carers, coupled with my on-going health issues, I am now working jointly as a registered Wildlife Carer with a newly formed Wildlife group, Marsupial Mammas and Pappas Inc. based in Toodyay. I am, however, still retaining the position of President of Loveland for Wildlife. Loveland for Wildlife has been rehabilitating and releasing wildlife at the Loveland Sanctuary on Munbinea Road for 15 years now, and due to environmental viability, we will not be releasing any further wildlife at this location. Marsupial Mammas and Pappas has extended an “olive branch” in this direction, and with over 80 members, we have access to a number of registered Wildlife Carers and release sites. Accordingly, although we will not be releasing in Jurien Bay, LFW will still be accepting sick, injured and orphaned animals,

From all the furry and feathered critters, and volunteers at Loveland for Wildlife, we wish everyone a safe and healthy Xmas. Sheryl Wilson, President
