NEXT WEEK WE HAVE AN EXCITING GUEST SPEAKER:
The boarders challenged themselves to new heights over the weekend. Climbing the courses at Gripped meant working together as a team to overcome unknown obstacles. Ziplining over rivers, beautiful countryside and speeding down the crazy slides certainly made it all worth while.
Sunday’s sunny weather created the perfect day for a walk through the local bridleways to the coffee van. The boarders indulged in their favourite drink and a sweet treat. While they rested, they were able to admire the rolling surrey hills and picturesque morning. Sunday was also spent celebrating one of the girl's 16th birthday. Cake, laughter and music was a great way to end the weekend, especially with some boarders still recovering from their high rope adventures. Here’s to making more memories in the Summer Sun.
As part of Mental Health Week, we are encouraging all our boarders to take time for themselves during the busy exam period. The school grounds and our beautiful surroundings offer the perfect opportunity to step outside, take a calming walk, and clear the mind.
Whether it’s a peaceful stroll around the grounds, relaxing on the patio with an ice lolly in the best weather, or simply taking a moment to appreciate nature, it's so important to unwind and recharge.
We’re also excited to share that our BSA Orchard Crab Apple tree, planted in 2022, is growing well and serves as a beautiful reminder of the importance of patience and nurturing just as we should nurture our own well-being.
Let’s make the most of the fresh air, good weather, and the peaceful environment around us!
Our CCF proudly took part in the recent Remembrance Parade in celebration of the 80th VE Day.
VE Day holds a special place in our school’s history. In 1945, peace was marked in a truly memorable way, as almost the entire school gathered to celebrate:
“Peace in 1945 was celebrated when almost the entire school danced around a bonfire at the far end of Effingham Common, nuns and pupils linking arms and singing while marching back to the Covent in the dark, the church bells becoming fainter and fainter.”
- Virginia van der Lande

Year 10 geographers had a brilliant few days in Dorset, staying at PGL Osmington Bay. They tackled fieldwork in Weymouth and the River Wey, explored coastal sites like Old Harry Rocks and Studland Bay, and even spotted a seal at Durdle Door. Great weather, stunning views, and plenty of laughs!
Huge congratulations to all the girls who took part in the UKMT Challenge! It was wonderful to see so many of you being awarded certificates. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves!
“This week was Mental Health Awareness week where the Mental Health Ambassadors and Prefect teams worked together to put on various fun activities for the school to enjoy. Throughout the week we had Puzzles and Picnics - an event organised by our brilliant year 8 ambassadors, here girls chatted and played games in the sun. We had a Stop and Sleep spot which was very popular with year 10! Additionally on Thursday and Friday we visited Equestrian for horse grooming sessions. We all loved seeing the ponies and giving them a pamper Yogi the school therapy dog was on dog walking duty and finally, we decorated the YANA (You Are Never Alone) Bench. The plan is for each student to emboss the bench with their thumb print. It was such a great week and amazing to have so many people coming together as a community!”

This week at STE
It’s been wonderful weather this week although the horses have been struggling to stay cool and so some of them are sporting fancy new hair cuts.
It’s great to see that the Prep school pupils have had some wonderful school trips organised this term. This is just a reminder to let us know a week in advance if your child will be attending the trip so that we can credit the lesson.
BHS Challenge Awards
Bambi enjoyed being a ‘living diagram’ for the BHS Challenge Award sessions this week. Always one to enjoy the spotlight when not trying to make an escape through an open barn door...

We have a Pope
Reading
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
‘The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice;
I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one will ever steal them from me. The Father who gave them to me is greater than anyone, and no one can steal from the Father. The Father and I are one.’
We have Pope.A Holy Father to guide and lead us on. God is always surprising us and so it was with the election of Pope Leo XIV as the 267th Supreme Pontif. I have been struck by his humility and grace. IN the way in which he both looks back and looks forward. I am sure his experience as a Missionary, an Augustian and a Canon Lawyer will serve him well. May the Holy Spirit guide him in his role and protect him.
Faithful God,
You guide us on the path of life and your goodness is our constant companion.
