Adorian, H
House Basketball Tom White With a very passionate Senior team, and some willing Junior teams, East turned up to the basketball raring to go. The seniors unfortunately lost the semi‐final, but we composed ourselves and came out 3rd overall with some great performances form Milward, Lim and Croker. The 5th form basketball drew both the semi‐final and 3rd/4th place play‐ off, but in both matches we lost on penalty hoops. It could have been a very different result if we had had a bit more luck. The 4th form did incredibly well, winning their first match, they progressed to the final, only to lose narrowly, leaving them in second place. Carne and MacDonald played especially well. Maybe basketball isn’t our thing but well played boys!

All medica on must come in to school in the original chemist’s box with typed instruc ons for dosage, frequency and the students name. When dayboys stay over can they please bring in bedding and let Mr Lane know at least 24 hours in advance. This term is the longest, most ring and falls in the darkest part of the year. However, it is also the term in which the House welcomes an en re new 4th form, establishes a new 6th form leadership team, competes in lots of spor ng events and completes a large part of the years’ academic work. As always, most of the ar cles below are wri en by the boys and hopefully will give you an overview of some of the things that the House has been up to over the past term. Unfortunately, we can never cover everything that goes in a busy House like ours so instead we have tried to highlight some of the best events of the term. I hope that you all have a great Christmas! East‐South win House Performance Compe
on 2011
Michael Dolman 365 days had passed. Tradi on therefore states that it was me for yet another House Performance compe on. This year was always going to be slightly different from the last as there were new rules in order to make the event for cultured and civilised. It did however, keep the same format: it included a 4th form dance, and a ‘part‐song’, and an a cappella piece of roughly two minutes. This year the dance had to be choreographed in just 5 hours by members of the U6th—no mean feat with a bunch of fresh faced 4th formers. This year there were so many highlights from all of the dances, but only East managed to successfully incorporate a back flip! The 4th form were excellent and performed the rou ne with flare and precision: East was pronounced the winner! Members of every year group from both East and South performed in the part song and they did so magnificently, singing the well known song ‘Halo’ by Beyonce. There were par cularly impressive performances from Rosie Singleton, Phoebe Bagge, and Sophie Marr. The other Houses sang a variety of tracks, all beau fully performed, and overall it was a very tough field but in the end East came in a very close second which was enough to win the en re compe on! There was a brilliant atmosphere in the House room a erwards with all of East and the South girls who performed with us. Amazing. Thanks must go to Mr Jenkins and his team of technicians as well as all of the 6th form who planned and organised both the dance and part‐song. It was an extraordinary event and the quality of performance was high. Let’s have another win next year!
