'The Schumanns and the Short Story' is the opening session of the Cranleigh Literary Festival. It's an entertaining mixed programme of live music, readings, insights into the short story as well as the compelling real life story of Robert and Clara Schumann. Perfect for music lovers, readers of fiction or both! Author Lucy Weldon and Pianist William Hancox will shed light on the story behind some of the Schumann's music as well as show how they continue to inspire today, particularly in Omma's Piano, one of the short stories in Ultramarine, Lucy Weldon's short story collection. Jody Cooksley: Uncle Jim’s Tin: The Making of a Novel from inspiration to publication

Join award-winning local author, Jody Cooksley, on a journey through the creative writing process as she talks about the inspiration, research and craft behind her second novel, How to Keep Well in Wartime. Following two novels with Cinnamon Press, Jody’s third, The Small Museum, winner of The Caledonia Novel Award, will be published by Alison & Busby on May 23rd, with a sequel planned. Sarah Gristwood: Author Talk
