The annual team effort is the only continuing Rose Parade entry by a university. CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS Overseen by the United Business Student Senate, more than 20 student organizations fall under the CBA umbrella. graduate programs MBA: The on-campus, evening Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) program is designed for working professionals ready to boost their career potential while continuing daytime employment. • Each MBA and MSBA class meets one evening per week. • Graduate faculty are published scholars and/or industry professionals highly regarded in their fields. MSA: The Master’s of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program allows students to advance their careers as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or in a similar accounting role while still working. • Accelerated MSA can be completed in a year. • Combination of face-to-face,online and hybrid classes held evenings and weekends. • Meets the “accounting study” requirements for CPA licensure in California. historic campus CAL POLY POMONA OPENED IN the fall of 1938 as the Voorhis Unit of California State Polytechnic College in San Dimas. Breakfast cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg deeded 813 acres of land to the state of California in 1949. In 1956, students, faculty and staff moved to the new location. Separation from the San Luis Obispo campus came in 1966 and California State Polytechnic College, Kellogg Campus was born. University status was granted in 1972 and today, it has a student body of 25,000. At 1,438 acres, Cal Poly Pomona is the second largest in area of the California State University’s 23 campuses.

our business options ACCOUNTING provides the first step to a professional career in public, private, government and not-for-profit accounting. Courses are taught in the framework of modern business complexity so that the students develop decision-making skills in realistic environments and learn the range of ways in which the accountant’s skills are used to effectively manage an enterprise. COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS prepares students to solve business problems with computer technology. Courses include programming, database, web development, security, software design and telecommunications. The CIS department is a Nationally Designated Center of Excellence in Information Assurance Education. E-BUSINESS center on the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in supporting the activities of a business. Analyzing and distributing data and information to those that need when they need it is essential to business success and a primary goal of the EBZ program. FINANCE, REAL ESTATE AND LAW stresses that its students have a comprehensive understanding of financial markets, business law and government contracting. While the career paths may be different within the department, FRL faculty members are committed to helping every student become a financial leader.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS equips students with the essential skills to quickly grasp the changes and needs of the global economy. Flexible study abroad programs allow students to travel and learn in several different countries. MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCES places people at the core of a business or organization. The emphasis is on the role of people in management, through three primary tracks: Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management; Human Resources Management; Management. MARKETING MANAGEMENT aims to develop professionals that think strategically about branding products and services. Eight career tracks include: Advertising, Electronic Commerce, Marketing Research, Product Brand Management, Industrial Marketing, Retail Management, Entertainment Marketing and International Marketing. TECHNOLOGY AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT focuses on the design, implementation, control and improvement of processes and activities involved with daily business operations. The primary goal is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of a business using the latest in technology.

unique learning experiences As part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, students receive extensive training before preparing free tax returns for the local community. Ten teams of aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their idea to a panel of judges to win $10,000 in seed money during the annual Bronco Startup Challenge. Dozens of accounting companies attend the student-organized Meet the Firms every fall to recruit graduating seniors. Monitor stock market prices and news like a professional in our Bloomberg Financial lab. Designed to mimic a real-world facility, an Advanced Computer Forensics lab teaches students the software and equipment used by forensic examiners. Assist faculty in preparing data for the Real Estate Research Council of Southern California, one of the most respected non-profit real estate data organizations in the country. Sales and marketing fraternity Pi Sigma Epsilon won back-to-back Western Region sales competitions. Create marketing plans for non-profit organizations in the surrounding community for credit as part of the Service Learning class.

get involved Since 1998, Cal Poly Pomona’s Alumni Professor for a Day has invited former students back to campus to speak to classes and participate in a luncheon. Alumni are asked to share their experiences in regard to career path, profession and how their education applies after college.

A perennial National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition powerhouse, our teams have won the ultra-competitive western region five of the last eight years. The Finance Society has received the Financial Management Association’s, “Superior Chapter Award,” 14 consecutive years. Industry leaders share real-world experiences with students with the Executive Mentor Program. During Hackpoly, hundreds of students break into small groups and take a product from concept to creation in less than 24 hours. A state-of-the-art Supply Chain Operations Technology lab allows students to work with the latest in logistics technology. One of only five schools in the CSU system to offer an option in E-Business/E-Commerce.

Help guide the next generation of business leaders by becoming a mentor in the Executive Mentor Program. Mentees must apply for admission into the program with qualifications and desired focus. Interests and industry are taken into consideration before pairings are made. Tap into a network of 38,892 living CBA alumni by attending a College of Business Administration Alumni Chapter meeting or participate in the annual Alumni Night at the Ballpark where Broncos of all ages watch a professional baseball game.
