A Legacy of Success The College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona offers anything but a typical education or ordinary graduates. Business students of all disciplines are exposed to unique programs – what we call signature experiences – unmatched at competing universities. The experience can vary from a cyber security program heralded by the National Security Agency to a supply chain lab loaded with state-of-the-art equipment. Equipped with this exceptional education, our students have the knowledge, ability and confidence to make their mark in the global marketplace. They are the graduates who fearlessly launch their own companies or contribute to Fortune 500 companies their first day on the job. The foundation of the college’s success is derived from our people. Our tireless pursuit of quality has been widely recognized outside the university. We are among an elite group accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – the premier accreditation body in the field of business education, which demands rigorous standards including high-quality instruction, the finest educational resources, and a commitment to excellence. We are among just 5 percent of business schools worldwide to achieve accreditation. Cal Poly Pomona is increasingly becoming a destination campus for freshmen and transfer students because of our quality programs and our dedicated faculty who are committed to student success. Our polytechnic approach to learning produces students who are career ready upon graduation and who are equipped with leadership skills necessary to thrive over the course of their career. For some time, CBA has been charting a course that remains true to our legacy of academic excellence, collaboration and signature experiences. I hope you’ll join us on this journey.

Team-building for Leaders While our learn-by-doing approach to education helps students gain practical career skills, our philosophy also allows students to acquire another set of intangible, but essential, skills. Most hands-on lessons are experienced in a collaborative environment, enabling students to learn how to work as a team with people from diverse backgrounds. Students also learn when and how to lead, an essential component to career advancement. Signature Experiences Involving Teamwork Student teams compete in the U.S. Collegiate Cyber Defense

Competition in which they protect a computer network from a group of hackers. The competition is organized by the Computer Information Systems Department and is held at Cal Poly Pomona. Student teams from the American Marketing Association compete

in business case and sales competitions against students from across the country. In our Poly Presents class, business and engineering students work

together to introduce new high-tech merchandise into the marketplace beginning with product development and culminating in marketing and promotion.   Signature Experiences Involving Leadership Development Our student-run clubs provide leadership roles in areas such as

marketing, event planning and budgeting. Students can network with executives about leadership through

club meetings, our Executive Speaker Series and other collaborative projects. The National Society of Leadership and Success provides

opportunities for business students to learn about leadership from nationally recognized figures in the business and entertainment industries.

engaged faculty CBA offers a community of teacher-scholars who encourage students to broaden their perspectives and challenge them to rethink notions of how business operations will function today, tomorrow and in the distant future. Our faculty members also perform research and consulting work for businesses, which gives them direct insight into the latest thinking. This access allows faculty to adapt curriculum to reflect the ever-changing business environment. CBA further enriches the curriculum by having business professionals teach and provide insight to students. They serve as specialized experts who can offer knowledge about the specific practices and trends in their industries.
