The recent facility improvements in the District are a result of a strategic approach, which involves maximizing the use of existing funds and seeking other funds through grants and other programs. The District is committed to outstanding facilities as they are a key condition of learning.
The Covina High School Aquatics Center is funded through a $4 million Federal Appropriations Committee grant and $12 million dollars of Measure CC funds The elementary school Heating, Air Conditioning, and Ventilation improvements are funded through $19 million of ESSER 3 funds. Improvements to our school cafeteria and other student nutrition facilities are paid for using state and federal funds and grants.
The District is receiving CalShape Phase I and II grants, which provide $6 million in current and future grant funding dedicated to repairing and replacing other old HVAC units, installing and upgrading controls across the District, upgrading and improving plumbing systems, and installing new CO2 sensors. These improvements will enhance energy efficiency, air quality, overall sustainability, and safety.
The District remains committed to seeking out all available funding opportunities to ensure that our facilities remain in optimal condition, providing a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff. We are dedicated to long-term infrastructure improvements that benefit the entire community.
Covina High School's Aquatics Center is currently under construction, promising a top-tier facility to enhance our swim teams Schedule for completion in March 2025, it will serve as a community hub for aquatic events, boosting physical education and promoting health, wellness, and athletic excellence among students
South Hills High School's library is currently undergoing renovations to transform it into a modern learning hub Scheduled for completion in January 2025, this upgrade will provide students with a state-of-the-art resource center, fostering academic growth and to connect with other students and the world.

ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM & CAFETERIA HVAC REPLACEMENTS
Elementary schools across the District are currently upgrading their multi-purpose rooms with new HVAC systems, ensuring a comfortable and healthy environment for a variety of school activities and events All of our HVAC projects are scheduled to by completed in the 2024-25 school year
Covina High School's tennis courts have been completely renovated, providing an excellent facility for students to engage in sports and develop their tennis skills The courts were renamed in honor of Kazumasa Kikunaga, longtime Covina High Tennis Coach who passed away in 2020
Our District's Medical Pathway Classrooms have undergone significant renovations. Students now have access to state-of-the-art equipment and resources, enabling them to enhance their healthcare education and practical skills
Complete roofing renovations at Merwin, Cypress, and Ben Lomond Elementary Schools ensure a safer and more durable environment, enhancing the infrastructure for our youngest learners.
Traweek Middle School used grant funds to create an eSports classroom. eSports is a fun and engaging way to get students excited about learning By tapping into students' passion for gaming, esports can help to improve academic achievement and develop essential life skills
New team rooms for girls' sports were completed at South Hills in the 2023-24 school year. Covina High School’s girls’ team rooms will be completed this fall, and Northview’s girls' team room will receive air conditioning this fall
All three high school cafeterias have been refreshed with new, school-branded flooring This stylish upgrade not only enhances the appearance of our dining spaces but also fosters a sense of community and school spirit

Covina-Valley Unified School District has successfully secured a long-term revenue stream through a strategic property exchange. The District will lease land to a prominent Toyota dealership developer, generating millions of dollars annually These funds will be allocated to ongoing facility improvements, ensuring that our schools remain modern, well-maintained, and conducive to a high-quality learning environment Additionally, this partnership strengthens the District's financial stability, allowing for future investments in educational programs, technology upgrades, and extracurricular resources The District is committed to leveraging these opportunities to enhance student success and community engagement, while promoting fiscal responsibility
The C-VUSD school district has implemented an innovative internship program, hiring five high school students to work with their Maintenance Operation Facilities and Transportation (MOFT) department Additionally, Diversified Thermal Services brought on two students to intern specifically on the installation of new classroom HVAC units. The MOFT interns focused on preventative maintenance and general HVAC work, gaining valuable hands-on experience in operations. Their collective efforts yielded significant improvements in HVAC efficiency, air quality, and equipment longevity through regular inspections, repairs, and new installations. This program not only prepared the students for future careers but also enhanced the learning environment for the entire school community The district strongly supports such internships, viewing them as opportunities for real-world learning that inspire students to reach their full potential By bridging the gap between classroom education and practical application, this initiative exemplifies the district's commitment to providing diverse, meaningful experiences for its students
