Since the 2021-22 school year, Covina-Valley Unified School District has been implementing a comprehensive literacy initiative by training its primary grade teachers, special education teachers, and instructional aides in the Lindamood-Bell program This researchbased approach serves as both a Tier 1 (universal) and Tier 2 (targeted) instructional support system, designed to address the needs of struggling readers and enhance overall literacy instruction The Lindamood-Bell program utilizes multisensory techniques to develop foundational reading skills, including phonemic awareness, decoding, and comprehension strategies By investing in this professional development, Covina-Valley demonstrates its commitment to equipping educators with effective tools to s allstudentsintheirjourneytobecomingproficientreaders
