You will reach your goals only with the help of others.” I firmly believe that we cannot do life successfully alone, and my time at Covenant has confirmed this even more. Since the first day I joined the Covenant family in 2016, I have been amazed at the collaboration of each individual and their families within the company. I have never seen a team truly exemplify collaboration like the one here. From the field to the office, everyone pulls together to help others in their time of need.

Every single day we have a string of choices to make. Sometimes we choose right, and others we don’t. Lessons from those decisions are valuable pieces of information for us as a whole. What may seem like a bad choice initially should be considered a growth opportunity as long as we choose to learn from that mistake. Sharing those lessons with one another is what makes us stronger as a Covenant family; it’s the fabric of collaboration – being honest, learning from our mistakes, and moving forward stronger than before. That takes courage.

For those of you who have made the difficult choice to work away from home, I understand the strain and challenge this brings. It is not a decision easily made and for this I want to thank each of you and your families for the sacrifice you make on a daily basis.

Working alongside a group of people who do their best to achieve the same goal with integrity and humility has truly changed the way my family and I look at life and relationships. I want to challenge you today to think about what you can do to make an impact and invest in your fellow brother in the field. Your effort won’t go unnoticed, and it will certainly make a difference.

This month, we’ll take a peek into a day in the life of a Rig Up Crew and celebrate the hard work they do to ensure the safety of everyone around them. Thank you to the following who contributed to this article: Lisandro Suarez and Raul Martinez (WTX), Joshua Stinson (LA), Nicholas Conchola (STX). Their thoughts below are listed in no particular order:

What does a typical day look like on the rig up crew?

• A typical day on a rig up crew is strenuous, both physically and mentally. It consists of early days and late nights, and all starts with a plan. From staging equipment, carrying iron, swinging a hammer, and laying down restraints. Each task is methodically put together step-by-step.

• Wake up early, reflect on what needs to be done. Pray and prepare ourselves mentally, physically, and most important spiritually for the day and job ahead, and plan the safest route possible. Unfortunately, its all the same daily dangers. Keeping in mind that the goal is to get the job done and get home safely.

• It all depends on the rig up that day and the elements. It could be as easy as rigging up a line to the tanks or as difficult as rigging up multiple flowback sets in the rain or snow.

Either way I lead my team and push them to complete the job safely.

• Heavy lifting, a lot of hammering, and plenty of walking.

What are a few of the biggest challenges on rig up?

• Driving is by far the biggest daily challenge.

I gladly like to face any challenge in front of me. I enjoy a challenge.

• Our goal is to always work hard, do a good job, and do it at an efficient pace so that no one gets hurt. Safety is always important.

• Exhaustion from long days, irritability, and the weather conditions.

• Problem solving, time management, collaboration, and safety of all parties on location.

What type of personal qualities in team members make a rig up team work best?

• Communication and Heart!

• Teamwork!

• Leadership, hardworking individuals, working well with others, and most importantly, being on time.

• Consistency, cooperation, and commitment.

What do you like about your team?

• Working together. Good Communication and being able to rely on one another. The team is only as strong as the weakest link on any given day. Picking up the slack is very important to make each job and each day a success.

• The team’s aspirations and dedication to getting the job done.

• Supervisors to operators, we are all a team and we help each other out to get the job done. We do the job safely and keep our customers happy.

• The respect we have for one another and the effort they put in every day.

• COMMUNITY • JAC'S ROOM When Clifton Harris, West TX Field Supervisor, and his wife Yvette lost their daughter to suicide, they could not have imagined the hope and healing that would come from that tragedy. A community support outreach for teen girls emerged called Jac’s Room. Named after their daughter, Jacquelyn, and her frequent time spent encouraging and equipping her little sister in her bedroom, Jac’s Room is a weekly support group for middle school girls and older to help them remember that they are special, valued and not alone. Clifton and Yvette want to spread awareness about the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-8255.

Outside of work, you may find Eric swimming with sharks! His love for all things outdoors recently had him on an adventure scuba diving with sharks upwards of 10 feet long.

“The hardest part was jumping in the water and trying not to land on one.”

Married nearly 16 years, he and his sweetheart, Mimi, have three children under the age of 11.

When he’s not swimming with sharks, Eric is busy cheering on his children at their activities.

• Working together. Good Communication and being able to rely on one another. The team is only as strong as the weakest link on any given day. Picking up the slack is very important to make each job and each day a success.

• Supervisors to operators, we are all a team and we help each other out to get the job done. We do the job safely and keep our customers happy.

You will reach your goals only with the help of others.” I firmly believe that we cannot do life successfully alone, and my time at Covenant has confirmed this even more. Since the first day I joined the Covenant family in 2016, I have been amazed at the collaboration of each individual and their families within the company. I have never seen a team truly exemplify collaboration like the one here. From the field to the office, everyone pulls together to help others in their time of need.

Every single day we have a string of choices to make. Sometimes we choose right, and others we don’t. Lessons from those decisions are valuable pieces of information for us as a whole. What may seem like a bad choice initially should be considered a growth opportunity as long as we choose to learn from that mistake. Sharing those lessons with one another is what makes us stronger as a Covenant family; it’s the fabric of collaboration – being honest, learning from our mistakes, and moving forward stronger than before. That takes courage.

For those of you who have made the difficult choice to work away from home, I understand the strain and challenge this brings. It is not a decision easily made and for this I want to thank each of you and your families for the sacrifice you make on a daily basis.

Working alongside a group of people who do their best to achieve the same goal with integrity and humility has truly changed the way my family and I look at life and relationships. I want to challenge you today to think about what you can do to make an impact and invest in your fellow brother in the field. Your effort won’t go unnoticed, and it will certainly make a difference.
