Joyful Xian! Xian Horn is a joyful half-Asian with cerebral palsy on a mission to make everyone feel welcome in the world. She’s a public speaker, advocate, teacher, writer, consultant, and workshop leader, guiding discussions on inclusion and self-esteem tailored for any audience. Her non-profit, Give Beauty Wings, provides tailored Self-Esteem Programs which began at NYU’s Initiative for Women with Disabilities. She is also an avid contributor to Forbes Women, Thrive Global, and Positively Positive, writing on Leadership, Empowerment, and Disability, and has been published in Allure and Architectural Digest. Xian’s aim is to shift culture to serve and connect humanity by amplifying inclusion in tech, beauty, fashion, media, employment, and design. She runs vocational workshops for the NYC Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities for Disability Mentoring Day. She is an equitable transportation advocate, and issued a Call-toAction for ride-sharing services, as well as created a petition to save same-day travel options for New Yorkers with disabilities, which has been signed by more than 6,400 people. Her work in Adaptive Clothing includes teaming up with Open Style Lab at Parsons and Design for Disability and, in 2020, she walked the runway again for Zappos Adaptive at NY Fashion Week. Xian is also an advisory board member for the American Institute of Architects, NY, for their inclusive exhibits in 2021. Xian has spoken at the U.N., The Harkin Summit, ACLU, Microsoft, Apple, Viacom, AppNexus, New York Life, Met Life, the New York Public

She joined the State Department’s Speaker’s Bureau in 2016 and Xian was named Women’s eNews’ 21 Leaders for the 21st Century in 2017 and in Walker’s Legacy Power 15 in 2018. Xian was invited to join Cooper Hewitt’s Accessibility Advisory Committee, AT&T’s Accessibility Advisory Panel, and was an Exemplar for the AT&T NYU Connect Ability Challenge in the creation of Assistive Technology.
