LE T US BE BRA VE
Allen Wong, DDS, EdD, DABSCD - President of AADMD
“Let me win, But if I cannot win, let me be Brave in the attempt” is the Motto of the Special Olympics Athletes. If you read it again, it is more than just a motto but a philosophical way of thinking. It reminds us that we should be hopeful and courageous in our lives. As President of AADMD, I intend to bring the spirit of the Athletes of Special Olympics in being hopeful and courageous in our organization’s attempt to educate, advocate, collaborate and propagate the attitude of inclusion and improved health care for all people. Injustice is wrong but not being courageous to help make improvements is worse. We cannot mend all the wrongs in life but we can certainly do our part individually and collectively. AADMD was formed to help improve interdisciplinary healthcare, improve access to care, and help end disparity of care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We invite like-minded people and organizations to join us in our cause. One of our greatest assets is the AADMD Student/Resident Groups which have spread nationally and internationally a firestorm of education and resources such as our Virtual Grand Rounds (VGR) that are archived for your viewing pleasure. I invite you to check out our AADMD website. I hope you get a chance to enjoy our Virtual Conference that can be accessed for all who registered and wish to register. Our Breakout Sessions are active and exciting for the next weeks, please check out schedule and go to as many or all of them. 2020 and 2021 has many unexpected challenges but in the spirit of hope and courage; we will take this opportunity to harness the optimism of our brave Athletes, use our talents and skills to make our world a more inclusive place. So “Let US Win, But if WE cannot Win, let US be Brave in the attempt” with fearlessness and a positive attitude. Be part of the AADMD movement and let people know that we are determined to make a difference and welcome everyone. Inclusively yours,
