WELCOME Welcome to The Practice of Active Listening program. This course was designed for professionals like you to provide you with enhanced skills for use when involved in all transactions requiring elevated listening skills.

Active listening involves listening with all senses. As well as giving full attention to the speaker, it is important that the ‘active listener’ is also ‘seen’ to be listening - otherwise the speaker may conclude that what they are talking about is uninteresting to the listener. Being able to listen to your colleagues, team members, customers, etc., effectively means you’re able better to understand their perspective. It means you are more likely to have constructive conversations where they feel their point of view is being considered. So many misunderstandings in business interactions are caused by one or both partners feeling like they have not been heard. Learning how to be a good listener can do so much to address this.

Therefore, come to the session prepared to be involved in open discussions, work in breakout groups, do presentations, argue and debate with your cohort colleagues, be called on by name to contribute and , most importantly, learn something new and have some fun!
