Leadership Essentials COURSE OUTLINE

WELCOME

Congratulations on attending the Leadership Essentials Program. This experience was designed for leaders like you to provide greater exposure to key people and team leadership competencies with consideration of the challenges of leading in a complex and dynamic environment. This course outline brochure will provide you with information about what you can expect over the next four months including course objectives, learning outcomes, and pre-module work requirements. Be sure to keep this outline handy and follow along as your development journey takes place.

This is a vILT session. vILT stands for Virtual Instructor Led Training – a highly interactive and participative learning event. This is not eLearning nor a Webinar, but a very engaging and active development process. Therefore, come to the sessions prepared to be involved in open discussions, work in breakout groups, do presentations, argue and debate with your cohort colleagues, be called on by name to contribute and, most importantly, learn something new and have some fun!

All modules take place using Zoom.

MS TEAMS CHANNEL Your place to connect and share You have access to a dedicated MS Teams channel that contains all pre work materials, job-aids, supplemental videos, podcasts, plus additional articles and resources relevant to the topics being studied.

In addition, you will be asked to upload post-session assignments you complete to the MS Teams Channel for facilitator feedback and peer review.

Most importantly, being a commons, you are encouraged to send further resources (that you find interesting and relevant) to the facilitator for review and upload to the site, thereby creating a community feel to the MS Teams channel.

Group Coaching You will each receive three,, 1-hour group coaching sessions (calendar invitations should be on your calendar for these already). The coaching sessions will focus on takeaways and action items related to module content in addition to your reflections and action items associated with your TKI assessment.

TKI Assessment You will receive information regarding how to complete the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Handling Inventory assessment. Please keep an eye on your email for further information.

Leading in the Future Building High-Performing Teams ● Understand the key symptoms of teams at each stage of team development ● Illuminate the leader’s role in moving the team from stage to stage

Leading a High-Performing Team Remotely ● Learn about the current state of hiring within the pharma industry and understand your role in the hiring process ● Explore how to balance priorities of doing the achieving the task, building the team, and developing individuals ● Learn how to lead through a change in team personnel and changing dynamics

Module 4

Planning and Holding Crucial Conversations •

Examining different types of performance conversations and how to prepare for those that may be more difficult than others

Learn how to approach each conversation with confidence and conviction, while maintaining a respectful and collaborative approach to solving problems that may exist

Understand how to assess motivation and how it differs from engagement

•

Explore the art of giving feedback and why the message is sometimes not heard

CAPSTONE

Pecha Kucha Presentations PechaKucha (Japanese: ぺちゃくちゃ, IPA: [petɕa kɯ̥tɕa],[1] chit-chat) is a storytelling format where a presenter shows 20 slides for 20 seconds of commentary each. Each slide is auto-timed for 20 seconds, so every presentations last not a second longer or shorter than 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

There will be no template provided for this presentation so your creativity and presentation innovation can flow through.

A lot more information will be provided regarding the art of creating a Pecha Kucha presentation closer to the time.

However, in the meantime, start collecting ideas for your presentation revolving around the topic of “My Leadership Journey So Far”.
