A Taste of Success with Wexford Home Preserves Wexford Home Preserves is a rare and wonderful thing. A small family business dedicated to making everything by hand using ingredients sourced as local as possible and a growing powerhouse of an Irish food brand with national distribution and a wealth of awards under their belt. Owned and run by Tom and Laura Sinnott in New Ross, Wexford Home Preserves has a strong reputation for quality and innovation. The range of products is often changed to reflect consumer demand and the wonderful ingredients that are available.
“It is so special to be able to visit the farm that your ingredients come from,” says Laura. “We are lucky in Wexford that we have such great growers. When we cannot source something in our own region, for example oranges, we still like to deal with small family growers, and we make sure to visit them and see their farms.” DEMAND FOR LOCAL FOOD AND SUSTAINABILITY Sustainability is as the heart of Wexford Home Preserves they are members of Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme, and they continually strive to find new ways to ensure that their products are as environmentally friendly as possible.
NEW RANGE, IRISH INGREDIENTS Along with their main range of family favourites, they have launched a fabulous red onion relish using onions grown especially for them in Cork, the nearest place they could source them from. Their tomato and red pepper relish features tomatoes grown in Horeswood, just outside New Ross. Wexford Home Preserves uses Des Jeffares’ blackcurrants, Eamonn Creane’s strawberries, and Malcolm Robertson’s rhubarb. Tom and Laura are always on the lookout for local produce that they can create delicious products from.
