Puts the focus on the current moment rather than past or future events and encourages the use of visual, audio and sensory experiences. Encourages awareness of ongoing thoughts and its impact on your actions, such as eng ag ing in avoidance or rumination. MBCT is now being used by prominent practitioners for patients with Bipolar Disorder or Generalized Anxiety Disorder to alleviate their depressive and anxiety symptoms.
Depression is a significant mental illness, with about 9 million Canadians or 1 in three people experiencing a mental illness in their lifetime.
Depression may strike anybody at any time, and it can strike at any age, although it most typically strikes in adulthood. It can impact how you think, feel, interact with others, and go about your everyday activities. It might make you disengaged and cause a loss of interest or pleasure in things you used to enjoy.
