MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

The Cosumnes Community Services District is proud to announce a groundbreaking innovation in emergency response technology, coinciding with National EMS Week (May 19-25). This initiative marks a significant milestone in our ongoing endeavor to enhance community safety and wellbeing.

In partnership with LYT, a trailblazing provider of smart traffic solutions, the District is launching a pilot program to test the cutting-edge LYT emergency system in Elk Grove. Funded by Measure E, this revolutionary technology harnesses the power of GPS to dynamically adjust traffic signals along emergency routes, shaving precious seconds off response times without disrupting the flow of traffic.

Over the next 12 months, this cloudbased system will be implemented at 43 strategic intersections along Laguna Boulevard, Bond Road, and Elk Grove Boulevard, optimizing emergency response times and saving precious minutes. If successful, the technology will

be permanently integrated into the District's emergency response infrastructure, bolsteringourcommitment to prioritizing community safety and wellbeing.

This Measure E-funded initiative showcases the District and the City of Elk Grove's unwavering dedication to embracing innovative solutions, fostering a safer, more resilient future for our community. By pushing the boundaries of technology and collaboration, we are redefining the standard for emergency responseandcommunitycare.

EVERY 15 MINUTES

The Fire Department participated in Galt High School’s Every 15 Minutes program for high school juniors and seniors. This program includes a mock fatal DUI collision and the response from first responders. The response included an air ambulance, family notifications by chaplains, consultations from trauma doctors and donor services, and students being isolated from their peers. The program concludes with an assembly. At the assembly, students and parents read letters to one another, heard about the impacts of being a DUI survivor from Kelly Carr,Angel Renteria's mother, and watched a video recapping the collision from the previous day. Our hope is that the Every 15 Minutes rescue simulation and assembly will teach the students about the dangers of drunkdrivingandwillhelpthemresistthetemptationtodrinkanddriveinthefuture.
