Welcome to the LISD TECH Center’s Fifth Annual

REVERSE JOB FAIR

We appreciate your interest in today’s event and LISD TECH Center students. We want to make the best use of your time. Here’s what you’ll need to know:

WHAT IS A REVERSE JOB FAIR? At most job fairs, employers set up booths and prospective employees look to find which companies offer the best jobs. At the Reverse Job Fair, LISD TECH Center students will be seated at a table with resumes, info cards, and work samples in front of them, while prospective employers look to find the talent that meets their needs.

WHAT TYPES OF STUDENTS ARE HERE? Some of our students are seniors seeking immediate employment. Some seniors are entering college in the fall, but are looking for work experience through summer employment. Our juniors are eager to find summer employment, internships, and co-ops.

INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION < 3

WHAT SHOULD I ASK? Start up a conversation with the student to get to know them better. There is a list of conversation starters on the following pages to give you some ideas.

CAN I TALK TO AN INSTRUCTOR? Instructors will be available through out the multi-purpose room to answer specific questions about students.

QUESTIONS? LISD TECH Center administrators and staff will be available throughout the facility to help make your day more productive and efficient. Just ask!

4 > 2018 Reverse Job Fair

TODAY’S SCHEDULE Seniors and juniors from the manufacturing, automotive, construction and computer programming areas will be available between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for interviews.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH PROGRAM A STUDENT IS IN? Each program is color coded and the color will be on the student’s placard.

HOW DO I KNOW THE WORK IS REALLY THEIRS? Students can take you back to the lab or classroom to demonstrate how they made the part, weld, design, drawing, etc. Ask them about the process(es) they went through to produce the work sample.

CAN I OFFER A STUDENT A JOB ON THE SPOT? We suggest you invite the student to a formal interview at a later date at your place of business. The purpose of this job fair is to introduce you to a number of talented young prospects. Take your time to find the one(s) who will be the best fit for your company.
