The University announced Monday a formal collaboration between the School of Hotel Administration and the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai to offer dual degrees next year. The dual-degree program will allow students from both schools to complete two degrees over the course of two years — the Master of Management in Hospitality degree at Cornell and the Master of Business Administration degree at CEIBS — according to the University. According to Prof. Rohit Verma, hotel administration, obtaining an MMH degree normally takes one year and a traditional MBA degree requires two years — a process that is streamlined in the new program due to overlapping core classes.

Paintball Culprits Arrested, Identified as Two Teenagers Police say they arrested two teenagers following a string of reports from individuals who were shot with paintballs on and near Cornell’s campus. Two underage teenagers were charged by both the Cornell University Police Department and the Village of Cayuga Heights Police Department with fourthdegree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree reckless endangerment, according to a University press release. The names of the teenagers were not released because of their age, according to the University. Both will appear at the Village of Cayuga Heights Court on Sept. 30 and the City of Ithaca Court on Oct. 8. The University issued two crime alerts to the Cornell community
after multiple students reported that they were struck by paintballs on campus, an act that Cornell Police Chief Kathy Zoner deemed “intolerable.” Students reported that they saw a “black or dark-colored sedan” on campus with a paintball gun. Police said they appreciated the support from the surrounding communities regarding the case. “The officers assigned to these cases wish to thank the Cayuga Heights and Cornell communities for their active participation in reporting these incidents and providing valuable information that helped bring the cases to a quick resolution,” a University press release stated. — Compiled by Tyler Alicea
