Dear Corbett Prep Families,
As we reflect on the past school year, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the generosity, enthusiasm, and community spirit that define Corbett Prep. Your support, whether through time, talent, or treasure, has made a meaningful impact on our students, teachers, and programs this year.
Thanks to your giving, we’ve been able to enhance our learning environments, support our dedicated faculty, and create experiences that enrich the lives of every student on campus. From campus improvements to innovative classroom tools and extracurricular opportunities, your contributions make Corbett Prep more than just a school, they make us thrive as a community.
Looking ahead, we encourage you to stay engaged and continue your support. Every gift, big or small, helps sustain the vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking environment our children deserve. Whether it’s participating in the Big Event, contributing to our Annual Fund, or volunteering your time, your involvement fuels our mission and models the importance of giving back.
Thank you again for being part of the Corbett Prep family. We’re deeply grateful for all that we’ve accomplished together this year and even more excited for what’s to come.
Warmly,
Samantha Beller Director of Philanthropy

I’m truly excited for the year ahead and look forward to working together to continue building on the strong foundation you’ve helped create. Here’s to a fresh new chapter filled with joy, growth, and possibility!

To put our children first.
To have a positive impact on the greater community.
To develop globally-minded students who are culturally aware and respectful of diversity.
To accelerate learning by creating a brain-friendly learning environment that is joyful and challenging, stimulating and productive, nurturing with high standards and high expectations, encouraging a strong work ethic and ethical conduct with dignity and respect for all.
“Corbett Preparatory School was founded on and remains devoted to the ideal that a happy child…one who is given respect as a unique human being and allowed to fulfill his/her needs to play, to investigate, and to be him/ herself…is more open to learning than a child who is unhappy, tense, and fearful. We consider it our responsibility to foster each child’s capacity for learning, to help him/her grow morally, spiritually, and emotionally, as well as physically and intellectually.
Recognizing the many differences in learning rates and styles, we believe in individualizing each child’s school experience to whatever extent is possible for the fullest development of his/her potential. It is our belief that school should be interesting and even exciting; that each child’s work and behavior should be evaluated in terms of his/ her own inherent capacity rather than through comparison with others; and that cooperation is more valuable than competition.
Our goal is to provide a relaxed but stimulating atmosphere wherein each child feels acceptance and encouragement in the achievement of success through the exercise of responsible choice.”

CORBETT PREP CARNIVAL
A beloved Corbett Prep tradition! This free community event brings families together for fun and connection, making our school feel even more like home.

From flexible seating to enhanced technology, classroom upgrades create dynamic, engaging learning environments tailored to our students’ needs.

School spirit shines through our cheerleaders! With new uniforms, they proudly represent Corbett Prep at events, fostering pride and camaraderie among students and families.
Safety is our top priority. These secure, coded gates ensure that our campus remains a protected and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and families.
“When we moved from Boston three years ago, Corbett Prep welcomed our family with open arms. From the very beginning, both our son, Nari, and our daughter, Anika, felt seen, supported, and embraced for who they are. Corbett has truly become a home away from home. Our kids would stay forever if they could! The wide range of extracurriculars, from Lego Robotics and Bollywood dance to basketball and drama, has nurtured their growth far beyond academics. We’re so grateful for the Corbett community and the way it fosters creativity, confidence, and personality in our children. We’re proud to be part of this special place and look forward to supporting it however we can.”

“We participate in Corbett Prep’s Annual Giving because we believe in the school’s ‘kids first’ philosophy. Supporting Annual Giving is our way of investing in a learning environment where every child is valued, challenged, and inspired to thrive. Corbett Prep prioritizes students’ growth academically, emotionally, and socially, and we’re proud to help sustain the innovative programs, dedicated teachers, and enriching experiences that make this possible.”
-Leandra Osborne, Corbett Prep Teacher

“For our family, giving to Corbett Prep is both a charitable endeavor and an investment in our own sacred community. As an alumnus of IDS myself, I’m keenly aware of how disciplined the school has been in sticking to its core principles and building on the foundation set generations ago by its founders. I believe this mindset has informed its judicious use of its financial resources. The administration continues to maintain a cost-conscious, child-focused mindset when deploying those resources. The dollars we donate to Corbett are used wisely, and totally in service of the children’s well-being; no vanity projects! I’ve never felt better about the ‘ROI’ of a charitable donation than when contributing to our wonderful school.” -Victor Bonilla, Corbett Prep Alumni

“Our family donates to Corbett Prep to help provide the resources and opportunities that enrich learning experiences for all children. Whether it’s updating classroom technology, supporting extracurricular activities, or enhancing special programs, we enjoy being actively involved in supporting our school and community. We are so grateful that our children and their classmates can thrive in an environment where teachers are empowered and every child has the tools they need to succeed.”
“As parents, we believe in giving our children every opportunity to thrive, not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and creatively. That’s exactly what Corbett Prep provides. From the moment we stepped onto campus, we felt the warmth, energy, and genuine commitment of the faculty and staff. It’s not just a school; it’s a community that sees and nurtures the whole child.
We choose to donate to Corbett Prep because we’ve seen firsthand the difference it makes. We couldn’t ask for a better environment for our two children to spend these important, formative years. They are growing into confident, curious, and compassionate learners thanks to the school’s innovative teaching, global perspective, and joyful approach to education. Our contributions help support the programs, people, and resources that make this experience possible—not only for our kids, but for all students.
We feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing community and are proud to support Corbett Prep and its mission.”

Annual Giving plays a crucial role at Corbett Prep by helping bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of providing a high-quality educational experience. Tuition alone does not cover all the expenses required to maintain our aboveand-beyond programs and extensive professional development. Corbett Prep strives to stay on the cutting edge of educational resources with enhanced facilities and the ability to fund what is best for students.
Contributions to the Annual Giving Fund enable Corbett Prep to offer an exceptional education without relying on exorbitant tuition increases, keeping the school more accessible to families and fulfilling our mission to be a private school with a public purpose.

Each year, we honor donors who give at the Warriors Society level and above with a special evening of gratitude and celebration. The 2024-25 Donor Reception was held at Rooftop 220 to thank our supporters from the 2023-24 school year for the lasting impact they have on Corbett Prep. A night of community and purpose, the donor reception allows us to reflect, connect, and celebrate the spirit of giving at Corbett Prep.

We did it — together!
Thanks to your incredible generosity and enthusiasm, we are overjoyed to share that Corbett Prep’s first-ever Annual Giving Day was a HUGE success.
Our community came together, with over 300 gifts from different families, raising over $173,000!
Your commitment to our school community makes a meaningful difference for our students, teachers, and programs. Regardless of size, every gift has shown the heart and spirit of our Warrior family, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you.

A special thank you to board members Cornelia Corbett and David Bellini for supporting our Giving Day with a collective $150,000

We had an incentive challenge that the classroom with the highest percentage of donors would win a class Kona Ice party. This was intended to increase participation, rather than focusing solely on monetary involvement. The Outstanding Otters won!

DAY 2025 OCTOBER 16, 2025 EARLY GIVING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 16, 2025
The money collected from tuition covers our minimum operating cost. To continue growth and innovation we must look to charitable contributions from trustees, parents, alumni, past parents, grandparents, and friends of Corbett Prep. Annual Giving is the method used to raise these additional funds. The Board of Trustees is committed to keeping tuition at a reasonable level. Increasing income through Annual Giving gifts is one way to accomplish this task. Gifts to Annual Giving are tax deductible.
do not cover the total cost of educating each student. As is the case with many other independent schools, our advancement efforts are designed to support the cost of operating the school at its highest level.
Can we make a gift to a specific purpose?
Absolutely! Although Annual Giving seeks unrestricted gifts, if there is a project that you would like to fund, please let us know. Capital campaigns generally provide named gift opportunities.
May we make a contribution of something other than cash?
There are many ways to make a contribution to Corbett Prep. The development team can help you determine what type of gift best fits your circumstances and the needs of Corbett Prep.
My company offers a matching gifts program. Would Corbett Prep be interested in this program?
How much should we give?
Only you can decide. We encourage families to join our Warriors Society or higher so they may attend the annual donor reception. However, our ultimate goal is to have every member of the Corbett Prep community participate in any way they can.
How much have others given?
Why doesn’t Corbett Prep charge enough to cover operating costs?
If tuition was increased to cover the actual cost of all programs, many families could not afford to send their children to Corbett Prep. This could mean a drop in enrollment, resulting in a cutback of our programs and steeper tuition increases in order to fund all operations, which would directly impact your child’s education. Additionally, charitable gifts would be even more difficult to obtain. This would preclude our ability to finance many of the important campus programs and improvements made possible by charitable support. Why does Corbett Prep ask us for contributions in addition to what we already send to the school in tuition and fees? The cost of an independent school education is such that tuition and fees
Of course! Matching gifts are an easy way to double or, in some cases, triple your gift. Please let us know that your company offers matching gifts when you give. Donors will receive the full acknowledgment for the total gift.
Nearly everything we have at Corbett Prep is the result of previous gifts and the generosity of our community. As these previous donors have provided for our current student population, we must also provide for future generations. The only gift too small is no gift at all.
All contributions are fully taxdeductible according to IRS regulations.
Why do you ask parents for donations? There are many foundations and businesses that could support Corbett Prep. Do you ask them, too?
Yes, we do. The Corbett Prep development team efforts include soliciting foundations and local businesses for grants and funding as well as support for our special events.
Do special events like the Peacock Classic Golf Tournament and Big Event support Annual Giving?
They do not. Corbett Prep is fortunate to have an incredibly hardworking Parent/Faculty Association (PFA) that leads these events. These funds are separate from the operating budget and traditionally go to support a cause or need on campus. If you have yet to join us in one of our events, we look forward to welcoming you to some wonderful and fun friendraising opportunities.
Can our gift be made anonymously?
Yes. When you send your contribution, be sure to let us know that you would like it to be anonymous, and we will be happy to honor your request.
Is giving to Annual Giving unique to Corbett Prep?
No. Independent schools have long relied on the generosity and loyalty of their constituencies to advance their institutions. Very few, if any, independent schools meet full operational opportunity with tuition alone.
Can we make a gift in memory of someone or to honor a special individual, for instance a former teacher?
Certainly. The development team is happy to discuss either of these options with you.
Would we be expected to give to both Annual Giving and a capital campaign?
We hope that all parents and friends of Corbett Prep would consider supporting both efforts to the best of their ability. Your children are currently thriving on our campus due to the generosity of families before you.
What is the difference between Annual Giving and a capital campaign?
Annual Giving is designed to offset and enhance annual operation expenses. Annual Giving runs from July 1 - June 30, which correlates with the fiscal year budget.
Capital campaigns are conducted periodically to provide significant funds for additions to endowment, construction, renovation or extensive equipment purchases. Contributions are generally pledged over two to three years for these campaigns.
We have many ways in which you can contribute.
• Cash, check, credit card, or direct debit online at www.corbettprep.com/giving/annual-giving.
• Scan the QR code to lock in your gift.
• One-time payment: Make a one-time gift.
• Pledge now, pay later: Make your pledge now, and pay later in the year.

Please contact Samantha Beller, Corbett Prep’s Director of Philanthropy, if you have questions about Annual Giving or other ways to give at Corbett Prep. (813) 961-3087, ext 329 sbeller@corbettprep.com
When you donate to Corbett Prep’s endowment funds, you help us provide permanent, long-term support for our core missions. Corbett Prep strives to create a community of lifelong learners—students, faculty, and staff—who embrace the spirit of inquiry and understand that there are always ways to grow personally and intellectually.
Our two endowment funds help establish that educational climate through teacher development and ensuring that Corbett Prep remains a possibility for families who appreciate the learning community but may have financial roadblocks.
Through the generosity of donors, this fund ensures a diverse learning community and makes it possible for mission-appropriate candidates to attend regardless of financial constraints
Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman was a visionary educator whose passion for teaching and learning transformed Independent Day School, now Corbett Prep, during her 24 years as Head of School. Dr. Swarzman believed that great schools begin with great teachers, and her workshops and brain-based teaching models inspired thousands of teachers worldwide. To honor her legacy, Corbett Prep established the Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman Teacher Development Fund to ensure teachers continue to grow professionally and bring excellence to their classrooms, as Dr. Swarzman envisioned.

We are deeply grateful to the families and supporters who contributed to the 8th-grade class fund, which helps offset the costs of the graduation celebration and provides a lasting legacy gift to the school. Thanks to their generosity, the Class of 2025 is able to donate new sails that will provide much-needed shade in the Middle School courtyard. This gift will offer comfort and community for students for years to come, serving as a lasting reminder of the Class of 2025’s spirit and care for future Warriors.

From lending a hand in the classroom to leading events that bring our community together, your presence and participation make a huge impact on our students’ educational experience. All current parents are automatically members of our Parent-Faculty Association (PFA).
Within the PFA, there’s a role for everyone. I invite you to get involved and discover the power of showing up for your child, for your community, and yourself.

More than 415 parents, staff, board members, and guests gathered on April 25 at the Tampa Museum of Art for the most successful Big Event in Corbett Prep history: Paint the Night White!
Set against the twinkling backdrop of downtown Tampa, this elegant all-white celebration featured elevated food stations by SaltBlock Hospitality and live music from the high-energy dance band #NOFILTER. One of the evening’s highlights was the silent auction, which showcased a gallery-style display of “Works of Art,” collaborative pieces created by each Corbett classroom, with contributions from every student!
The PFA is thrilled to announce that Paint the Night White raised more than any previous Corbett Prep fundraiser, netting more than $265,000 through sponsorships, ticket sales, and the live and silent auctions.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the Dutton family, the Big Event Title Sponsor, whose support through their veterinary practices played an important role in making the evening extraordinary. This incredible night was a true milestone for the Corbett Prep community, made possible by the energy, creativity, and generosity of many families and individuals. Your support brought this vision to life and made a lasting impact on our school.
