PREREQUISITE: RESEARCH & WRITING (RESW214LECT) AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY (PROF308LECT). Offering students the opportunity to practice law in a supervised setting, third-year students can complete lawyering tasks assigned by their attorney supervisors, with their learning guided by a Cooley faculty member. Students must apply and be approved for externship placements and corresponding classes, and all sites must be pre-approved. No Exam.

Homeland Security Law - ELEC 1222 LECT

PREREQUISITES: RESEARCH & WRITING (RESW214LECT), CRIMINAL PROCEDURE (CRLP305LECT), CONSTITUTIONAL LAW I (CONL404LECT), AND CONSTITUTIONAL LAW II (CONL503LECT) Explores the legislative and judicial responses to the threat of domestic terrorism in the United States. Students will identify and analyze legal issues arising from the US efforts to plan, prepare, respond, and recover from modern terrorist threats, including the tension between Homeland Security and individual liberties. They will assess and analyze the international rule of law in the application of Homeland Security. No exam; paper required.
