In addition to our EAP service, we are proud to be again partnering with Incolink to promote the Bluehats program. Bluehats is a suicide prevention program that helps workers who are doing it tough by providing someone to talk to.

In the coming months, we will be asking for employees to put their hand up to become a part of the Bluehat / CDPG training program. The program involves a mental health and suicide prevention session, a 1 on 1 induction session with an Incolink counsellor, a brief study requirement and a detailed training session. If you are interested in becoming a Bluehat, please contact our People & Culture Manager, Jo Bomm at jbomm@cookedowsett.com.au

Desiree Spiteri Projects & Operations Administrator (PPM - VIC)

Hi Everyone! I’ve been working for Project Plumbing for 10 weeks now thought it’d be great to let you all know a little about myself……

Before joining PPM, I worked at the Woolworths Distribution Centre in Campbellfield. I was in the Maintenance Department for 14 years before Woollies decommissioned the site to build a bigger and better DC in the South Eastern suburbs.

In my free time I…. wait - free time? Unless you call driving to/from work ‘free time’, it doesn’t exist with my “Brady Bunch” family!

I have 2 kids (9-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son), as well as 3 step sons (15, 13 and 10), so life can be quite hectic at times! Between my partner running his own business, and running the kids around to Footy, Basketball, Swimming, Gymnastics and Soccer; I’d be lucky to get 30 minutes to myself! Throw 2 dogs into the mix and my 30 mins of “me time” is walking the dogs, haha. Wouldn’t swap it for anything tho!

On the rare occasion where I have a quiet house, I enjoy watching a good action or horror movie, watching documentaries, or anything to do with the Paranormal. Useless facts about me…… I love true crime, motorbikes, and hunting. I couldn’t do without chocolate and wine…. lots of wine (5 kids remember!), and love watching the Mighty Magpies (well…. maybe not as much this year!) Umm…..what else? I know how to play the violin… nah just kidding – the kids make enough noise without bringing any instruments into the house! Miguel Becerra Design Manager (Cooke & Dowsett - VIC)

I was born and raised in Peru, but eventually decided that I wanted more opportunities for my family and my career. My sense of adventure saw start a new life in Australia. It was a difficult transition however I wanted to make something of myself and make my family proud.

I became interested in engineering through my father who was a great role model and ended up following his footsteps. I enjoy having fun, salsa dancing and Latin music. I usually play soccer with my friend every Thursday night and enjoy tennis on the weekends. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 kids.

Meet Parwinder, who is undertaking work placement with CDPG as part of Melbourne Polytechnic’s OverseasQualified Professionals Program, an orientation program for job ready, skilled migrants who are experiencing barriers in accessing the job market because they need to further consolidate local experience.
