36 Overlays Color overlays over black and white photographs can be used to evoke a particular kind of emotion. It can help create visual consistency when using photographs that would otherwise represent a different visual language. Overlays can be crated with any color from the CBCF color palette, however, priority should be given to the softer tones as the visual perception of a red overlay can be overpowering. Always use a print test when using overlays in print as different print methods will give different results.
