Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that we are in the territory of the Anishinaabe peoples of northwestern Ontario. We work and live on the lands of Fort William First Nation, a signatory to the Robinson-Superior Treaty of 1850. We honour the enduring connection to this land and commit to working together for a sustainable future.
We also recognize that our seven regional campuses cross over multiple traditional and Treaty Territories, the historical contributions of Métis People, and that our students come to study from all over Turtle Island.
As part of the colonial history of Canada, non-Indigenous peoples have derived benefits from what the Truth and Reconciliation Commission defines as “cultural genocide" of Indigenous peoples in this country. We embrace our role and responsibilities in a national reconciliation process and acknowledge that we are accountable for this tragic history. At Confederation College, we are working to address injustices against Indigenous peoples and to honour our relationships with communities.

Apprenticeship Programs
There are more than 140 skilled occupations that can be practiced through Ontario's apprenticeship training system. Carpenters, cooks, electricians, millwrights, motive power technicians and welders are all professions that can be defined as "skilled trades," and represent occupations that are integral to the function of the regional and provincial economies.
Apprentices learn a skilled occupation by combining in-school training courses with paid on-the-job training. About 90 percent of apprenticeship training is provided in the workplace by an employer, while the remainder is delivered in a classroom setting at a training delivery agent like Confederation College.

INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS
1. ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Students must have Grade 12 English, or another approved English proficiency credential, such as IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo. Our Mature Student Assessment may also be an option. For more information, contact Recruitment recruitment@confederationcollege.ca or (807) 475-6335.

Not all math credits are equal. Please confirm with a Recruitment Officer to find out which math is needed for your program. www.confederationcollege.ca/ studentrecruitment
3. COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS
Popular programs at Confederation College often have more applicants than available spots. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Additional selection criteria may apply. Submit your application before February 1, to be equally considered among other applicants. Mid-term grades in required courses will be considered during selection.
4. WAIT LISTS
Starting February 1, a wait list is created for oversubscribed programs, ranked by grades rather than application date. If a seat becomes available, the next highest-ranked applicant is offered the spot. Applications to waitlisted programs are still accepted. Second round offers are sent on May 1. Seat openings are possible but not guaranteed. Offers can continue until the 10th day of the program, excluding those with medical requirements, early mandatory field schools or safety training.
5. TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
Confederation College provides students with access to satellite stations, library computer terminals, and computer services on campus. Most Technology and Media Arts programs provide technology and equipment for learning purposes. However, for specific requirements for the Computer Programming program, please contact your Program Coordinator.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the selection process for a competitive program if I'm a high school student without the necessary courses? We recommend taking the required courses during Grade 11 or first semester of Grade 12. Your mid-term mark will be considered if you're currently enrolled in the necessary course. For those taking the course in the second semester, a minimum grade will be applied if your transcript shows your enrollment.
What criteria are used for competitive program selection?
Required course grades are primarily used for comparison. The Medical Radiation Technology program, however, selects based on 70% grades, 25% questionnaire, and 5% work/ volunteer experience. For average grades for first round offers, see www.confederationcollege.ca/ admissions/selection-statistics
What if I have workplace credits, low marks, or lack prerequisites for my chosen program?
Confederation College offers several programs to help you qualifyPre-Health, Pre-Technology, College Access, General Arts and Science, Academic Upgrading, and the Mature Student Assessment. Consider the College Access or General Arts and Science programs if you're 19 years of age or older without a high school diploma.
