TheBrazilianInsuranceIndustry

is dynamic and present in the daily lives of people and their businesses, as seen in the growing and diverse demand for its products and services. A combination of factors, such as technological innovations, various distribution channels, fierce market competition, regulatory simplification, and appropriate prices to the underwritten risks all explain the sector’s growth. In 2022, sales increased by 11.7%, and financial resources paid out to society by 13.5%.
Our main goal is to protect and make a difference in times of adversity, contingencies, and mishaps. Last year, we fulfill this role by paying in claims, redemptions, compensations, prize draws, medical and dental expenses R$ 451 billion to society, more than 7-fold the budget of the government Bolsa Família aid program. Out of that total, R$ 230,9 billion were estimated Supplementary Health expenses, equivalent to 144% of the Ministry of Health’s budget for Fiscal Year 2022.
The sector’s contributions to the development of the country reach strategic areas of the economy, such as infrastructure and agribusiness, and ensure their continuity. Insurers paid out more than R$ 1.4 billion in claims for largescale construction projects and, in agribusiness, R$ 10.5 billion was paid to 78.6 thousand rural producers for risks covered by Rural insurance.
Today, our annual revenues are equivalent to 6.2% of the country’s GDP. We work tirelessly on several fronts to achieve an even greater share, and make the sector better understood by all. Insurance is a unique product, capable of offering solutions to the various wants and needs by society and modern economies.
