DEGREE INFORMATION
Environmental Health is a branch of public health protection concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that may affect human health.
As a student of Environmental Health, you will learn to improve the health of the community at large through advocacy, educational programming, research, risk assessments, inspections, applying public health legislation, promoting health initiatives, and community outreach. This program opens the door to potential careers in governmental health agencies, not-for-profit organizations, private industry, and educational institutions.

Our Environmental Health (After Degree) program is accredited by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) Board of Certification (BOC), the accreditation body for institutions that offer environmental public health programs.

*To practice as a Public Health Inspector in Canada you must complete a 12-week field placement practicum and take the Canadian Institute of Public Health (CIPHI) certification exam.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A three or four-year baccalaureate degree from a recognized university or college.
An Admission Grade Point Average (AGPA) of at least 2.3 (on Concordia University of Edmonton’s 4-point scale) or equivalent on the most recently attempted 30 credits.
Successful completion of: 3 credits in chemistry
3 credits in statistics
A statement of career objectives
Demonstrated fulfillment of Concordia University of Edmonton’s English Language Requirement
It is recommended that applicants present: 3 credits in microbiology* and 3 credits in human anatomy or 3 credits in human or mammalian physiology*
*Students must present these credits for graduation
Note: To register in the required course ENVH 561 (Field Experience in Public health Inspection) students will need to submit an immunization record and security clearance.
