THE TEA SET Afternoon tea is given the luxurious treatment at the city’s five-star venues

—— THE LOUNGE

Everything about Park Hyatt Dubai’s five-star ambience is designed to makes us feel like we are in expert hands. At afternoon tea spot The Lounge, the overall Arabic vibe and colourful Persian carpets lend a nice local touch. There’s also an indoor garden, elaborate water features and views over Dubai Creek to enjoy while you tuck into a light but satisfying menu of mini sandwiches, cakes and scones, all served on elegant crockery and traditional threetiered cake stands. Make it even more special and go for the bubbly package. Available from 2pm to 6pm daily. Prices start from AED225 for two. Contact: 04 6021814 AT.MOSPHERE LOUNGE

We think nothing compares to taking tea and feasting on gourmet delicacies while enjoying the views from this incredible vantage point. The entire afternoon tea experience is elevated at At.mosphere Lounge in the world’s tallest building on level 122 of Burj Khalifa. Start with a selection of berries and cream, served with bubbly before enjoying a selection of savoury delicacies and gourmet finger sandwiches. There’s also the option to add a choice of roast or fish of the day served with seasonal vegetables. Leave room for the chef’s dessert selection of pastries, scones with jam and cream, and mini cake loaves. The lavish menu is served with a refreshing choice of classic and world teas. Priced from AED530 per person, AED320 per person for the Traditional High Tea Stand option. Available daily from 12 to 4.30pm. Visit: atmosphereburjkhalifa.com

SKYVIEW BAR

PEACOCK ALLEY

Take your tea experience to a whole new level of luxury at the famed Burj Al Arab. In the plush Skyview Bar, as you would expect, the afternoon tea offering is outstanding. Skyview Bar has two afternoon tea sittings, at 1pm and 4pm, so there’s ample opportunity to try out the Sky Tea experience. Perched on the top floor of this iconic hotel, the views of Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf are outstanding. The food itself is every bit as impressive, with a fantastic selection of tea, coffee, sandwiches, pastries and cakes. For those looking for a traditional take on things, there’s a choice of tasty homemade jams and Devonshire clotted cream. Priced from AED620 per person. Available from Saturday to Thursday. Add some New York style to your afternoon tea experience at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah. We love lounging in Peacock Alley with its plush white leather armchairs and sleek marble finishes. Outside, the terrace looks out over the hotel’s lush green gardens. There are two menus to choose from – a Parisian or a London style afternoon tea served daily from 2.30pm until 6pm. The Parisian menu offers a French touch with duck foie gras sandwiches, salted caramel éclair, and sable Breton lemon mousse. The fluffy scones served with luxury preserves and a selection of TWG premium teas are a standout. From AED150 per person, served between 2.30pm and 6pm daily. Contact: 04 8182222
