Transforming Lives: Stories of Resilience and Recovery with Comprehensive Healthcare

A Year in Review:

As we enter a new year, I am grateful for the dedication, resilience, and compassion that defines Comprehensive Healthcare. This winter edition of Vibrant Communities reflects the heart of our mission – stories of transformation, our commitment to growth, and a bold vision for the future.
Looking ahead to 2025 and 2026, one of the biggest pieces of our strategic plan is doing everything possible to prepare our organization to become a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). Becoming a CCBHC provides countless benefits, including expanding access to care, enhancing our services, and ensuring that individuals and families receive the person-centered support they deserve. Achieving this vision will require dedication, collaboration, and investment – but we know the impact will be profound, strengthening the communities we serve.
Another key element of our strategic vision is investing in Comprehensive Healthcare’s workforce. Our workforce is at the core of our success—passionate professionals who make healing possible every day. Though we, like many organizations, face the ongoing challenges of a workforce shortage, we are making every effort to overcome those challenges to ensure we continue to recruit and retain top-notch individuals who can provide the best care to our clients. Through enhanced training opportunities, career development initiatives, and a culture that values well-being, we are equipping our team with the tools they need to thrive and continue making a difference.
This edition of Vibrant Communities highlights the exciting initiatives and plans shaping 2025 at Comprehensive Healthcare while also celebrating the remarkable successes of 2024. From partnering with Central Washington University to relaunch its Master’s in Counseling program to breaking ground on the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery, reopening our Selah Evaluation and Treatment Center and launching our new Walk-In Clinic in Yakima, we are incredibly proud of our progress over the past year. We have seen lives changed, barriers overcome, and hope restored. Our client success stories remind us why we do this work and inspire us to push forward with renewed purpose.
On behalf of the entire board, we thank you for being a part of this journey. Your support and belief in what we do fuel the momentum that will carry us toward an even greater impact. Together, we are building healthier, stronger, and more vibrant communities.
With gratitude,

Jeff Scott Chair, Board of Directors Comprehensive Healthcare

A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
Sharing Our 2025-2026 Strategic Plan
Meeting the ever-changing needs of our clients and communities is at the heart of Comprehensive

CCBHC status also brings enhanced funding opportunities, enabling us to invest in innovative programs, advanced technology, and specialized staff. Ultimately, becoming a CCBHC strengthens our ability to serve our clients and communities holistically, supporting recovery and well-being at every stage of their journey.
Achieving CCBHC status is a pivotal goal for our organization, and becoming CCBHC-ready will require a unified, strategic effort across all levels of leadership. Our teams are actively working to align operations, programs, and infrastructure with CCBHC standards, ensuring we are well-prepared for this transformation.
“We are taking a proactive approach by collaborating with the Washington Council for Behavioral Health, engaging with advisory councils, and utilizing insights from the community health needs assessment,” shared Jodi Daly, PhD, CEO of Comprehensive Healthcare. “These efforts will enhance our work, support our teams, and strengthen our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible, whole-person care.”
How We’ll Get There: Our Four Pillars
Pillar One: Financial Sustainability
Achieving CCBHC status requires a strong financial foundation to support the comprehensive range of services we will deliver. We will be modernizing our financial platform, enhancing staff training, and streamlining operations. These advancements allow us to optimize resources and invest in innovative programs, advanced technologies, and specialized staff, such as our new addictionologist position. The enhanced funding opportunities available through CCBHC status will further strengthen our ability to support recovery and well-being at
every stage of our clients’ journeys.
Pillar Two: Clients & Community
The CCBHC model embodies the whole-person care approach, ensuring clients receive integrated services tailored to their unique needs. Comprehensive Healthcare is preparing to deliver nine core services under this framework, including crisis intervention, outpatient mental health and SUD care, peer and family support, and care coordination. Many services that fall under the CCBHC model of care have been implemented since 2020, thanks to two CCBHC expansion grants that provided the necessary resources to support and enhance our programs. These include initiatives such as Same Day Access and the implementation of care coordinators.
We are expanding access to care through key projects across our region. The Columbia Valley Center for Recovery in Benton/ Franklin County, set to open in December 2025, will provide essential recovery services through a collaboration with the Benton/ Franklin Recovery Coalition. In Yakima, we are developing a Behavioral Health Center at Camp Hope to support individuals experiencing homelessness. We are also in the process of opening a Peer Run Drop-In Center to offer peer support, recovery resources, and community connection. These initiatives reflect our commitment to meeting people where they are and strengthening community partnerships.
Pillar Three: Workforce
Building a world-class workforce is essential for delivering the exceptional care required of a CCBHC. We are prioritizing meeting employee needs, improving retention, and fostering professional growth. To support our staff, we’re
providing things like supervision for licensing, tuition reimbursement, and student loan debt repayment, making it easier for employees to advance in their careers. Additionally, we developed a new employer brand to attract top talent and reinforce our commitment to a supportive, growth-oriented workplace.
Investing in our team ensures we have the skilled professionals needed to expand and enhance care. These efforts strengthen our ability to implement innovative programs and increase access to services for our community.
Pillar Four: Infrastructure
Under this pillar, we have prioritized modernizing our infrastructure to provide efficient, standardized processes and healing environments. Our facilities are designed to be clean, bright, and welcoming, fostering a sense of comfort, security, and support. We are implementing a new ERP system and finding ways to streamline processes across the organization to improve efficiency and support our teams. By enhancing information sharing and care delivery, we strengthen access and ensure quality care across all programs. These efforts create a foundation for sustainable growth, aligning our organization with the values of holistic recovery and community impact central to the CCBHC model.
Becoming a CCBHC is more than a designation – it is a transformative step that strengthens our ability to serve our clients and communities. Through these strategic priorities, Comprehensive Healthcare prepares for a future where accessible, integrated care is the standard, ensuring that we meet the diverse needs of those we serve.
STRENGTHENING OUR WORKFORCE
What We Do Means More

If you’ve received healthcare services in the last few years, you’ve likely encountered one of the growing frustrations in the field that drastically affects our ability to provide care to our communities: the healthcare worker shortage. The healthcare worker shortage is more than an industry challenge. It is a crisis that touches every corner of our community. When there aren’t enough skilled professionals to meet the growing demand for care, the ripple effects are felt everywhere, from longer wait times to limited access to critical services.
At Comprehensive Healthcare, we see this as a call to action. That’s why we’ve spent the last year planning, developing, and launching a brand-new recruitment initiative and have doubled down on supporting our staff. We want to ensure our communities continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve.
In partnership with Talent Works, Comprehensive Healthcare has embraced a new approach to recruitment marketing. By refining our employer brand, we have highlighted what makes our
organization an exceptional workplace. Through targeted social media campaigns, storytelling that features our employees, and a revamped careers website, we have been able to attract candidates who align with our mission and values.
“Our recruitment efforts aren’t just about filling positions – they’re about connecting with individuals who share our passion for making a difference,” says Cassidy Brown, Director of Marketing and Communications. “With Talent Works, we’ve amplified our message and shown potential hires that Comprehensive Healthcare is where they can thrive.”
Together, we developed a strong employer brand that highlights our unique culture, mission, and the opportunities we offer. This brand forms the foundation for a range of materials crafted specifically to attract top talent, from visually engaging digital ads to print collateral for career fairs and community outreach. Our campaigns span both physical and digital spaces, including targeted social media efforts and banner ads in high-traffic spaces in our communities.
The tagline for the new recruitment campaign is simple but powerful: What we do means more. This phrase reflects the profound impact of the work we do at Comprehensive Healthcare. It’s a reminder that every role within our organization, from frontline caregivers to administrative support, contributes to something bigger: transforming lives, fostering resilience, and creating hope. This tagline underscores why we’re committed to attracting and retaining individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference.
The tagline extends beyond our employees’ profound impact on clients and the community—it also reflects the opportunities we provide for their success. What we do means more signifies more than just meaningful work; it represents a commitment to our staff’s growth, well-being, and professional fulfillment. Through programs like tuition reimbursement, student loan repayment, robust training opportunities, and leadership development initiatives, we ensure our team members have the tools and resources to excel. Additionally, staff wellness programs—including access to mental health resources, employee assistance programs, and comprehensive health benefits— underscore our dedication to supporting their overall health. We value innovation, foster autonomy, and ensure every employee’s unique perspective is heard and appreciated. At Comprehensive Healthcare, What we do means more starts with investing in our people.
“Since my employment with Comprehensive Healthcare, I’ve grown both as a clinician and as a person,” shares Arianna Rhodes, a Case Manager and Substance Use Disorder Professional at Comprehensive Healthcare.
“Supervisors and clinical directors have been receptive to my needs,
and I’ve received training to help me serve clients in meaningful ways.”
“In my nearly 38 years with Comprehensive Healthcare, I’ve been strongly supported in my professional development,” shares Greg Aubol, Director of Kittitas and Sunnyside Services at Comprehensive Healthcare. “This has allowed me to advance my clinical and leadership skills, leading me to a series of career paths by starting as a mental health worker, and then advancing to a therapist/DCR, team supervisor, and eventually a director role.”
The campaign’s results have already demonstrated its value, with a noticeable increase in applications and growing interest from candidates who align with our mission and core values.
As we continue to navigate the challenges of the healthcare worker shortage, Comprehensive Healthcare remains steadfast in our commitment to investing in our people. By prioritizing employees’ wellness, providing meaningful growth opportunities, and innovating our recruitment strategies, we are ensuring that our workforce remains strong in the face of the shortage so that we can continue providing more programs and services to our communities.
For those seeking a rewarding career where they can make a difference, we invite you to explore opportunities with Comprehensive Healthcare. Together, we’re shaping a brighter future for our community.
“Our recruitment efforts aren’t just about filling positionsthey’re about connecting with individuals who share our passion for making a difference.”

With the proper support and resources, every individual has the potential to overcome life’s challenges. From substance use to mental health, our programs are designed to empower individuals and families to reclaim their lives.
While we can share about our programs and the successes they’ve seen over the last year, we firmly believe nothing illustrates the success of our efforts better than the stories from people who have been directly impacted: our clients. Each of the following stories highlights the profound impact access to behavioral health services has on individuals and our communities.
TRANSFORMING LIVES
Stories of Resilience and Recovery with Comprehensive Healthcare
The Path to Recovery: Tyler
The road to recovery is rarely a straight path. For Tyler, it was a journey that spanned several years before he felt ready to commit to sobriety fully. Along the way, he made several attempts to seek help, including trying methadone, but nothing seemed to take hold. It wasn’t until he hit rock bottom that he found the determination and strength to turn his life around. “I was absolutely terrified,” Tyler recounted, reflecting on the depths of his addiction to fentanyl. “I couldn’t go longer than 30 minutes without running to the garage for another hit. It was taking up my entire life.”
Tyler had sought help before but had only experienced failed attempts when it came to getting clean. This time, he knew it would be different. He was ready to make the commitment. After a painful time of withdrawals, treatment with suboxone and methadone, and a supportive team, Tyler was able to obtain sobriety.
“I was really scared at first – I didn’t want to be committed to anything,” Tyler shared. “But the people at Comprehensive were so accepting and cool as hell. They convinced me to stay, and so I did.”
Comprehensive’s team played a vital role in Tyler’s success. Tricia, one of
“I never thought I’d be here. I thought I’d be a junkie forever. But now, I’m focused on health and making my life better.”
his advocates, and Dr. Zuckerman provided unwavering support. “Tricia has been there for me since the beginning, and Dr. Zuckerman gave me hope when I needed it most,” Tyler said. “They just kept making me feel good about myself and told me that I could make it. It gave me the hope I needed to start the program.”
Before seeking services with Comprehensive, Tyler was reclusive, avoiding activities – especially interacting with other people. Today, Tyler attends group therapy sessions every Thursday and Friday, even though he now qualifies for takehome doses. “Group is the one thing I look forward to,” he said. “It’s something positive, and I feel like I can help others. I’ve talked people out of leaving the clinic when they were struggling. Knowing I’ve helped someone stay clean feels amazing.” Tyler’s journey proves that recovery is possible with the proper support and determination. Reflecting on how far
he’s come, he said, “I never thought I’d be here. I thought I’d be a junkie forever. But now, I’m focused on health and making my life better.” His message to others? “Don’t wait. Do it now. Whether it’s getting sober or improving your health, the time is now.”
Tyler credits his family and the team at Comprehensive Healthcare’s Methadone Program for helping him find hope again. His story is a powerful reminder that recovery is not just about overcoming addiction—it’s about reclaiming a life once thought lost.
Turning Lives Around: The Armendariz Family
The Multisystemic Therapy (MST) program continues to change lives for families struggling with behavioral health challenges. The Armendariz family is a shining example of what MST can accomplish when dedication and teamwork come together. Their powerful testimonials give us a glimpse into the profound impact MST has made on their lives.
For Veronica, mother to three girls in the MST program, the experience has been nothing short of life-changing. “Since we have been in MST services, life has been so much easier!”
Veronica shared. “Before MST, my girls were in and out of juvie. They
were drinking, using drugs, not listening to me, and running away.”
Veronica credits much of their progress to Mims, the family’s MST counselor, who she describes as “kind but straightforward.” This approach, combined with the program’s focus on accountability and positive behavioral changes, has helped transform the dynamics in their home.
For 12-year-old Aaliyah, MST has been a turning point in her young life. “Before MST, I was drinking almost every day and smoking. Mims helped me a lot with my anger issues, and I’m very grateful for her,” Aaliyah wrote in her heartfelt testimonial.
Through the program, Aaliyah has learned how to process her emotions in a healthy way, avoid risky behaviors, and set her sights on a brighter future. Her progress is evident in the positive feedback from her family, who have observed her behavior changes firsthand.
Aaliyah’s own words capture her new mindset: “I want to do more –there’s more to life than being on the streets. I feel like I can be more.”
“I want to do more - there’s more to life than being on the streets. I feel like I can be more.”
At 15, Araceli also faced significant challenges before starting MST. She describes her life before the program as chaotic, marked by drug use, drinking, running away, and constant conflict with her family.
“Mims taught me better ways to cope with everything,” Araceli shared. “I no longer do drugs, run away, or fight with my sisters or mom.” In addition to addressing her behavior, MST has empowered
Araceli with tools to set boundaries, express her emotions, and focus on her education and goals. She is now enrolled in school, preparing for driver’s education, and excited to start shadowing at a hair salon – a far cry from her path before MST. The impact of MST on this family is undeniable. Veronica notes that their household is calmer, their relationships are stronger, and her daughters are more motivated and focused on their futures. The MST program and the unwavering dedication of counselors like Mims are at the heart of this transformation. By addressing the underlying causes of problematic behavior and engaging the entire family in the process, MST empowers youth and their loved ones to create lasting change.
For families like the Armendariz family, MST is more than just a program – it’s a lifeline and a source of hope for a brighter future. “I would recommend the MST program to anyone that is having trouble with their children,” Veronica shares. “Thank you, MST, from the Armendariz Family.”
Community, Care, and Courage: Jennifer
Just before her 20th birthday, Jennifer found herself in a dark and isolating place, unsure how to find a way out. Battling depression and undiagnosed mental health struggles, she felt lost and overwhelmed. Like many young adults, Jennifer turned to the internet in search of guidance. Instead of hope, she encountered stories of stigma and judgment from people who sought help and were dismissed or misunderstood by their loved ones. These narratives deepened her fear of rejection, leading Jennifer to conceal her struggles from those closest to her.
One day, on her way to work, Jennifer’s mental health challenges
became too severe to ignore. She decided to pull off on the side of the road, and a kind motorist stopped to see if she needed help. Realizing she needed more help than he could give, he called the police department to intervene. She was taken to a local hospital, beginning what would become a lifelong journey of seeking mental health care. It took years of trial and error—finding the right support systems, medications, and medical team—before Jennifer began to experience stability. When Jennifer first became ill in 2001, resources in their community were limited. “We were unable to find the help we needed here,” Jennifer’s mother, Leslie, shared.
“We were in Portland, Spokane, and Seattle for some time. She saw many different doctors, therapists, and social workers, but there was no consistency. Finally, at Harborview in Seattle, she met Dr. J. Veitengruber and his team. After many months and with Jennifer’s participation, a treatment plan was formulated. This was the turning point.”
Eventually, Jennifer returned to Yakima in 2015 and began receiving services from Comprehensive Healthcare. For Leslie, this marked a turning point in her daughter’s journey. “Comprehensive was amazing,” Leslie recalled. “They are such a gift to this community and all the communities where they provide services. Having access to excellent services in your community enables you to be close to family and friends, and that makes all the difference.”
Jennifer’s mental health journey now spans over two decades, and her family has learned to navigate the ups and downs with the support of a reliable care network. “I’m a retired nurse, but when we started this journey with Jennifer, I knew nothing about mental health,” Leslie admitted. “As a nurse, I thought they’d put her on medication, and she’d be fine.
But my husband and I eventually realized this was a lifelong journey. There is no quick fix. There are highs and lows, and over time, the highs start to outnumber the lows when you have the right support.”
That support made all the difference in August of 2024 when Jennifer began noticing unsettling symptoms.
“I knew something wasn’t quite right – it had been building for weeks,” Leslie recalled. Jennifer confided in her mother that she was struggling with worsening anxiety, paranoia, and even hallucinations. Drawing on years of experience navigating Jennifer’s mental health challenges, Leslie recognized these symptoms as signs of a more serious issue. Having learned to identify warning signs and respond quickly, she encouraged Jennifer to lean on the support system they had carefully built over the years.
After speaking with her therapist and making arrangements to ensure her day-to-day responsibilities were taken care of, Jennifer checked into one of Comprehensive Healthcare’s inpatient centers to seek help.
There, Jennifer found a safe, welcoming environment and a team of attentive professionals. One staff member in particular, an ARNP named Silas, quickly identified the root of her symptoms: Jennifer was being overmedicated.
“I went to visit her the day after I dropped her off, and she was completely different,” Leslie recalled. “When I first brought her in, she was so anxious and distressed – it was heartbreaking. By the second day, the stress was gone from her face. I walked back to my car, sat down, and just cried – happy tears.
The staff had made such a huge difference so quickly.”
Silas called Leslie during Jennifer’s stay to explain the issue. Jennifer had been on several medications, one of which had too high of a dosage, which was causing her symptoms to worsen. “I want her to be happy,” he reassured Leslie. With adjusted medication and the compassionate care of Comprehensive’s staff, Jennifer was ready to be discharged just a few days later.
“We’ve been through so many difficult, heartbreaking experiences over the years,” Leslie said. “But the staff at Comprehensive listened to her, truly cared, and responded in ways that made all the difference. We’re so grateful for everything they’ve done.”
A Ripple Effect of Change
The stories shared here testify to the power of access to behavioral health programs in our communities. Each of these individuals has a unique journey, but together, they demonstrate the ripple effect that occurs when people receive the care and support they need. Recovery doesn’t just transform lives; it strengthens families, builds healthier communities, and inspires others to seek help.
If you or someone you know needs support, contact Comprehensive Healthcare. Together, we can continue to create vibrant communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

SUPPORTING GROWTH
How Comprehensive Healthcare Invests in Clinician Development and Client Care
When mental health professionals complete their educational training, it’s easy to assume they’re ready to dive directly into practice, applying the knowledge and skills they acquired in higher education. However, while graduates in behavioral health can enter the field, their journey toward independent practice is far from over. Clinical licensure represents a crucial milestone, signifying that a practitioner has met the rigorous requirements to practice independently and competently. This process ensures that clinicians are well-equipped to deliver highquality care, adhere to ethical standards, and meet clients’ diverse needs.
At Comprehensive Healthcare, supporting staff in their pursuit of licensure is a vital investment in the workforce and the clients we serve. The creation of the Clinical Licensure Supervisor role is a direct result of our strategic efforts to support staff development. Chris Moore, who serves in this role, actively guides clinicians through supervision, offering structured support. “The primary thing I do is offer clinical supervision to move people toward licensure,” Chris explained. Supervision is a key portion of the licensing process for behavioral health professionals. “It’s two years of supervision, and then you get permission to take the test,” Chris explained. This rigorous process
is essential for clinicians to obtain full licensure, but it’s not without its challenges. “Many clinicians, if their supervisor isn’t able to provide supervision, have to seek it externally,” Chris shared. “That can be expensive for staff.” By offering supervision in-house, Comprehensive Healthcare demonstrates its commitment to investing in its staff. “Providing this support not only eases the financial burden on our clinicians but also helps us build a stronger workforce,” Chris emphasized. This initiative is part of Comprehensive Healthcare’s broader vision to strengthen its workforce, enhance service quality, and ensure that clients receive the best possible care. By making licensure more accessible, the organization is fostering professional growth, increasing retention, and building a more skilled and confident clinical team. Supervision is provided across all of our campuses, including Yakima, Walla Walla, Sunnyside, Kittitas, and Benton/Franklin. Supervision is delivered through a combination of individual and group sessions, with a balanced approach tailored to each clinician’s unique needs. Individual supervision provides a space for discussing client cases in depth, while group sessions foster collaboration and collective learning. Topics explored in group supervision sessions range from diagnostic criteria and
developmental theory to cultural humility and autism throughout the lifespan.
One client story Chris shared was a powerful example of how these collaborative sessions have made a difference in client care. During one supervision session, a clinician presented a particularly challenging case where a client displaying symptoms of autism was having a difficult time interacting with their peers. The client was feeling increasingly more anxious and depressed from the isolation, further intensifying their symptoms. Through group discussion, Chris and the other clinicians could view the situation from multiple perspectives. They identified potential factors contributing to the client’s difficulties and recommended adjustments to the treatment plan, including connecting the client with an outside resource that specialized in creating supportive communities for individuals on the spectrum. This connection gave the client a sense of belonging and a network of peers who understood their experiences. These group discussions foster collaboration across the agency, bringing together staff from different teams and locations who may not have been able to interact with one another outside of this opportunity. Together, they share their experiences, offering unique perspectives and learning from others. This cross-site connection enriches learning and strengthens

“It’s good for our staff and, more importantly, it’s good for our clients.”
the organization as a whole.
“The biggest benefit is having multiple eyes on client cases,” Chris elaborates. “With supervisors, program managers, and clinicians all reviewing the same charts, we’re giving better care and ensuring we meet the needs of clients who may have more complex challenges.”
Since November, Chris has also introduced a licensing test prep group, offering participants the opportunity to analyze test questions, review answers collaboratively, and build confidence in their readiness for the exam. “The test can be overwhelming,” Chris shares.

Chris Moore is the Clinical Licensure Supervisor at Comprehensive Healthcare.
“It’s a lot of preparation, and there’s so much leading up to it.” Once clinicians complete their education, supervision, and pass the test, they receive full licensure.
“And with licensure comes increased responsibility,” Chris adds. “But it’s good for our staff and, more importantly, it’s good for our clients.”
Another significant contribution Chris has made outside of his supervision with clinicians is launching the
Occupational Therapist internship program. This initiative provides aspiring occupational therapists with hands-on experience, mentorship, and real-world training in clinical settings. Collaborating with Pacific Northwest University’s Occupational Therapy program, the internship has been met with enthusiastic feedback. Interns have highlighted the collaborative environment and the support they’ve received from staff.
Chris’s efforts have already had a profound impact on Comprehensive Healthcare. By fostering professional development and creating pathways for clinicians to meet licensure requirements, he directly enhances the organization’s quality of care. For clients, it ensures that they receive care from highly trained clinicians who are deeply supported in their professional journeys.
Comprehensive Healthcare continues to set the standard for excellence in community behavioral health through these efforts. Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient community.
A YEAR IN REVIEW
Milestones and Success Stories from 2024
As we conclude 2024 and launch into 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the milestones we’ve achieved and the stories that have shaped our journey over the past year. Comprehensive Healthcare has made remarkable strides in service expansion, community partnerships, and organizational growth. This year’s accomplishments reflect our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care and fostering a healthier, more vibrant community.
Here’s a look at the highlights from this year:
Opening of the Walk-in Clinic
In response to the growing need for immediate health support for our clients, we opened a new walkin clinic in January of 2024. This facility allows individuals to access care without an appointment, eliminating barriers and ensuring timely support for those in need.
A Partnership with Central Washington University
In May of 2024, Comprehensive Healthcare made the announcement of a partnership
with Central Washington University (CWU) which would relaunch the Mental Health Counseling (MHC) Program. This program, a cornerstone of CWU’s Department of Psychology since the 1970s, had been paused for several years, contributing to the shortage of behavioral health specialists in our region. By restoring the program, Comprehensive Healthcare seeks to address this critical shortage and ensure that individuals in our community have better access to timely and quality behavioral health care.
This collaboration will create a strong pipeline of welltrained counselors, positioning Comprehensive Healhcare as a key player in the professional development of mental health practitioners. With a fast-tracked reopening plan and plans for a new Department of Psychology building, this partnership also opens doors for expanded clinical opportunities and deeper connections between CWU and Comprehensive Healthcare.
Ultimately, this partnership aligns with our strategic pillars of workforce development and community relationships, promising a lasting impact on the mental
health landscape in our region.
CCBHC Community Advisory Council Meetings
Comprehensive Healthcare has been hard at work preparing to achieve Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) status, ensuring we meet the requirements and deliver impactful services to our communities.
Starting in January 2024, we began hosting quarterly CCBHC Advisory Council Meetings in Walla Walla and Yakima. These meetings provide a crucial platform for integrating community perspectives and tailoring our services to local needs, with input from diverse council members helping to guide the success of the CCBHC grants that were awarded to each location in 2023.
In addition to the advisory councils, we’ve taken several key steps to prepare for CCBHC implementation. We partnered with SPARK consultants to provide specialized training for our Peer staff, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to support clients effectively within the CCBHC framework. To further support this transition, we’ve created new

Service expansion, community partnerships, and organizational growth.

Comprehensive Healthcare Partners with Benton Franklin Recovery Coalition to Open Columbia Center for Recovery Comprehensive Healthcare is proud to partner with the Benton Franklin Recovery Coalition on the transformative Columbia Valley Center for Recovery in Kennewick, WA. Funds for the new recovery center were raised by the coalition, with overwhelming support from community members in the Tri-Cities area. Comprehensive Healthcare is set to provide all of the behavioral health programming in the facility, with the center scheduled to open in early 2026. Renovations for the facility officially
kicked off on November 12, 2024, with a unique “sledge-hammering” ceremony, as the center is being transformed from the old Kennewick hospital into a state-of-the-art recovery hub. This innovative facility is a key component of a multiphase initiative aimed at creating a comprehensive care system for individuals facing mental health challenges and addiction. The center will offer essential services such as short-term treatment, crisis stabilization, withdrawal management, and residential substance use treatment, all under a “no wrong door” approach to ensure accessibility for all, regardless of insurance or
financial status. With two campuses planned—the expansive Auburn campus and the Bruneau campus, which is set for future growth— the center promises to serve as a cornerstone for behavioral health support in the Tri-Cities.
The Columbia Valley Center for Recovery will serve as a cornerstone for behavioral health support in the Tri-Cities, ensuring care is accessible to all.
CLIENTS SERVED BY COUNTY IN 2024
Here is a breakdown of the number of clients Comprehensive Healthcare has served in each county. Some clients receive services in more than one county.
Hiring of new CMO and Medical Director for Addiction
Last year, Comprehensive Healthcare welcomed two exceptional leaders to its medical team: Dr. Richard Repass as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Dr. Gillian Zuckerman as Medical Director of Addiction Services. Dr. Repass stepped into the CMO role following the retirement of our former officer, bringing a wealth of
expertise to guide the organization’s clinical direction and uphold our commitment to high-quality care. Dr. Zuckerman, dedicated to overseeing our addiction services, has been instrumental in enhancing the support we provide to individuals on their recovery journey. Both leaders have seamlessly integrated into their roles, building on our legacy of compassionate and effective care
while driving innovation in mental health and addiction treatment.
DELIVERING MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES
In 2024, the number of clients seeking SUD services increased over 2023. Nearly 5,000 clients engaged a broader spectrum of Comprehensive Healthcare’s services for SUD and mental health needs.
