A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler is our January book

From the beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning author a brilliantly observed, joyful and wrenching, funny and true new novel that reveals, as only she can, the very nature of a family's life.

Brimming with the luminous insight, humor, and compassion that are Anne Tyler's hallmarks, this capacious novel takes us across three generations of the Whitshanks, their shared stories and long-held secrets, all the unguarded and richly lived moments that combine to define who and what they are as a family..

Meet the Crew: Julia, Adult Program Coordinator

Meet our cheerful adult programmer Julia. A Natrona native, Julia moved to California after high school for over 40 years and returned a few years back. During her time away from the library, Julia loves walking her dogs, Cha Cha and Josie, boating, practicing yoga, hiking, cooking, the Steelers, live music shows and volunteering in the community.

An avid reader and facilitator of the library’s Kitchen Sink Book Club, Julia enjoys biographies and autobiographies - especially by rock stars - and leans towards non-fiction. Favorite books of all-time include Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris and Love, Janis by Laura Joplin.

Favorite movies include While You Were Sleeping, Saturday Night Fever, and A League of Their Own. Best-loved albums are The Royal Scam by Steely Dan, Look Sharp by Joe Jackson, and Life and Life Only by The Heavy Heavy.

Julia invites you to join her at a paint or craft night. Or expand your reading genres at the book club that explores various literary themes. Julia welcomes new ideas for programs. If you’re passionate about recycling, the environment, or shopping local, ask for her on your next visit to the library!
