● Ifaparent/guardianwishestowithdrawtheirchildfromWildcatAcademy,theyneedtocontacttheWildcat AcademyCoordinator.

● Atthetimeofthenotice,theparent/guardianmustletWildcatAcademyknowthenameandlocationoftheschool wherethestudentwillbeattendingasrequiredbythecompulsoryattendanceMNStatute120A.22,whichstates allchildrenundertheageof17arerequiredtobeenrolledinaneducationalsetting.

● ChisagoLakesSchoolDistrictmayterminatetheenrollmentofanonresidentstudentenrolledunderOpen Enrollmentattheendofaschoolyearifthestudentmeetsthedefinitionofahabitualtruant(seeMNstatuteon truancyhere260C.007,subdivision19)andthestudent'scasehasbeenreferredtojuvenilecourt.ChisagoLakes SchoolDistrictmayalsoterminatetheenrollmentofanonresidentstudentovertheageof17ifthestudentis absentwithoutlawfulexcusefor15schooldaysorforthree(3)weeksstraightandhasnotlawfullywithdrawn fromschool.

AuthenticityofOnlineSchoolWork

TheStateofMinnesota,whenissuingpublicfundstotheChisagoLakesSchoolDistrict,doessoingoodfaiththat enrolledstudentsareinfactmakingregularandappropriateacademicprogress.

Academicintegritymeans(unlessotherwiseinstructedbyyourteacherorbyaspecificassessment),youareexpectedto honorthefollowingprinciples:

● Youandyoualonewilltaketheassessment.

● Youwillnotcopyorredistributeanypartoftheassessmentinanyway-electronically,verbally,oronpaper.

ChisagoLakesSchoolDistrictstronglybelievesintheacademicintegrityofstudent’shonestcompletionoftheirown work.Completedcourseworkandexams,mustbeofthestudent'sown. Disciplinaryactionwillbetakenforstudents whoutilizeanymethodstocheat,turninanother’sworkorplagiarizecontent.Disciplinaryactionmayincludebutnot limitedtolossofcreditfortheassignment,examorproject,andlossoftechnologyprivileges

ATTENDANCE

TheCLHSattendancepolicyisapplicabletoalldistancelearners.Dailyactivityisrequired. Truancyprotocolscanbe appliedtoWildcatAcademy.

● Studentsmustdemonstratedailyactivityinoneormoreoftheirclasses.

● Pleaseadvisetheattendanceofficeassoonaspossibleofyourstudent’sabsencebycallingthe attendancelineat651-213-2006orsubmitviaparentvue. Allabsencesnotexcusedarerecordedas unexcused.Anabsencenotexcusedbyphoneoremailwithin3schooldaysoftheabsencewillbe recordedasunexcusedandwillbemarkedtruant.

Ifastudentishavingattendanceoracademicconcerns,ameetingmaybescheduledtodiscussthesituation.Theschoolor theparents/guardianscanrequestthismeeting.Possiblesolutionsmightinclude:thechild'sparticipationinanattendance plan,referraltoacommunityagencyforcounseling,tutoring,mediation,modificationofthechild'sschedule,educational assessments,orreferralofthechildtoalternativeeducationalprogramsandservicesavailableinthedistrict.

ChisagoCountyTaskForce-Attendance

AChisagoCountyTaskforcehasdevelopedanewattendanceprocedureforChisagoCountySchools. Pleasenotethe following:

1. AllabsencesfromschoolmustbeverifiedbyaparentthroughatelephonecalloremailtotheWildcat AcademyCoordinator AbsencesmayalsobesubmittedinadvancethroughParentVue

2. Whenastudenthas3unexcusedabsences,aletterwillbesentregardingtheunexcusedabsences.

Whenastudenthas5unexcusedabsences, theywillbereferredtotheCountyAttorney’sOfficeforthe AttendanceInterventionMeeting(AIM) Parentsandthestudentwillberequiredtomeetwithaschool official.Atthattime,theWildcatAcademyCoordinatorwillschedulemeetingswiththestudentandhis/her familytoaddressthisissue Familiesthatfailtocompletetherequiredsessionswillbereferredtothecounty truantofficer

4. Whenastudenthas7unexcusedabsences, atruancyoffensereportwillbecompletedandsenttoChisago CountyHealthandHumanServices Atthispoint,anassessmentwillbeconductedtoevaluatethe appropriatenessofareferraltotheChisagoCountyAttorney’sOfficeforatruancypetition

5. AccordingtoMNStateStatute,ifastudentisabsent for15consecutiveschooldays,thestudentwillbe withdrawnfromWildcatAcademyexceptincasesallowedbystatuteforanexception

Whenstudentshaveexcessiveabsencesduetohealthreasons,theywillbereferredtoalicensedschoolnursefor followup. Schoolofficialswillnotifyparentsbymailregardingexcessiveabsencesandwillrequiredoctor’snotesto verifyabsences

BEHAVIORPOLICY

● StudentsareexpectedtodemonstrateappropriatelanguageinallcorrespondencerelatedtoWildcatAcademy, suchasemails,writtencorrespondence,telephonecalls,etc

● StudentsareexpectedtodemonstrateacceptablebehaviorwhileinattendanceatanyChisagoLakesSchool District'sfunctions BehaviordeemedunacceptablemayresultinanexpulsionfromaChisagoLakesSchool sponsoredevent Inappropriatebehaviorwouldinclude,butisnotlimitedto:bullying,fighting,disrespectshown tootherstudentsandadults,andinappropriatelanguage.

● StudentsareexpectedtodemonstrateacceptablebehaviorwhileinattendanceatanyWildcatAcademyonline session.Behaviordeemedinappropriatemayresultindisciplinaryaction.Inappropriatebehaviorwouldinclude, butisnotlimitedto:inappropriatelanguage,disrespectshowntootherstudentsandadults,andmisuseofonline tools.

HarassmentandViolence

ThepolicyofChisagoLakesSchoolDistrictistomaintainalearningandworkingenvironmentthatisfreefrom harassmentandviolenceonthebasisofrace,color,creed,religion,nationalorigin,sex,age,maritalstatus,familialstatus, statuswithregardtopublicassistance,sexualorientation,ordisability.Asoutlinedinourdistrictpolicy413,Chisago LakesSchoolDistrictprohibitsanyformofharassmentorviolenceonthebasisofrace,color,creed,religion,national origin,sex,age,maritalstatus,familialstatus,statuswithregardtopublicassistance,sexualorientation,ordisability.

BullyingandCyberbullying

Anactofbullying,byeitheranindividualstudentoragroupofstudents,isexpresslyprohibitedonschooldistrict property,atschool-relatedfunctionsorwithintheonlineacademicplatforms.Thisappliesnotonlytostudentswho directlyengageinanactofbullying/cyberbullyingbutalsotostudentswho,bytheirindirectbehavior,condoneorsupport anotherstudent'sactofbullying.Thisalsoappliestoanystudentwhoseconductatanytimeorinanyplaceconstitutes bullying/cyberbullyingthatinterfereswithorobstructsthemissionoroperationsoftheschoolorthesafetyorwelfareof thestudent,otherstudents,oremployees Themisuseoftechnologyincluding,butnotlimitedto,teasing,intimidating, defaming,threatening,orterrorizinganotherstudent,teacher,administrator,volunteer,contractor,orotheremployeeofthe schoolbysendingorpostingemailmessages,instantmessages,textmessages,digitalpicturesorimages,orwebsite postings,includingblogs,alsomayconstituteanactofbullying/cyberbullyingregardlessofwhethersuchactsare committedonoroffschoolpropertyand/orwithorwithouttheuseofschoolresources Refertodistrictpolicy514fora completeoutlineofschoolpolicyrelativetobullyingandcyberbullying

DisciplinePolicy
