Wow, last year went fast! Too fast. And each year seems to go even fasterperhaps a worn cliché, but as our twins enter Middle School at Riviera Ridge this year, it feels more fleeting than ever, and I want things to slow down. I want to savor these days, weeks, and months, to treasure all the moments that together mark our kids’ journey at RRS.
When I look back at the 2024-25 school year, I feel deep gratitude. I’m grateful for the fact that our kids love going to school every day. I’m grateful to the teachers and staff that create a supportive and dynamic environment to cultivate and challenge our children. I’m grateful to our Head of School and Board of Trustees for leading us with passion and vision anchored firmly to our mission. I’m grateful for the engagement and spirit of our school community
of parents, grandparents, friends and siblings that tie us together, hold us up, and support our school. Mostly, I’m grateful to our children for reminding us every day that we are human, fallible, loved, and always learning and growing.
When I look ahead to the 2025-26 school year I’m excited. Excited for our twins to be challenged in Middle School. I’m excited to see Riviera Ridge build on the successes of last year - another year of full enrollment, strong participation in the Annual Fund and Spring Gala Benefit. I’m excited to be a part of a community that continues to thrive and support each other and our school.
Finally, since the notion of slowing things down is a certain fantasy, I will focus instead on the goal of being present, being engaged, and being grateful for every moment we have at The Ridge this year.
With gratitude and excitement, ;-)

The Riviera Ridge School’s Fête à la Riviera Gala was a dazzling celebration of community and generosity, raising a spectacular $340,000 for the school’s mission. Chaired by the dynamic duo of Victoria Strong and Caterina Lee, the evening brought together over 200 guests for a night of spirited fun and giving.
The atmosphere was infused with excitement, from the lively live bidding— where guests raised their passports for amazing experiences like a weekend at the stunning Zaca Lake and the chance to be “Head of School for a Day”. The evening and exquisite culinary creations were infused with that special French flair.
“This night was about more than celebration,” shared Katrina Sprague, Director of Development and Community Engagement. “It was a powerful reminder of what we can do to advance compassion, excellence, and connection.”
The immense success of the gala is a testament to the unwavering support of the Riviera Ridge community, whose passion and generosity make the school a truly special place.

The Annual Fund is the most critical ongoing fundraising effort for our School and community. Unrestricted gifts help the School meet annual expenses such as faculty salaries, new programs, upgrades in technology, and tuition assistance.
Many companies have matching gift programs that support various nonprofit organizations. The company for which you or your spouse works may match any cash or stock gift you make—sometimes on a dollar-for-dollar basis or more.
Gifts may include alternative, non-cash contributions such as appreciated assets, stocks, or real estate.
The Tea House Legacy Society honors those who inform the School that we are included in their estate plans. Such contributions may include gifts of cash, securities, tangible property, real estate, or life insurance. Gifts may be made through bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, or charitable lead trusts.

Fallon Erickson ‘23 played varsity volleyball each year at CATE School, serving as team captain last year. With an unfortunate ankle fracture recently, I am helping our team with coaching and support for my senior season—it’s been great to stay involved even off the court. I’m now also in the middle of college applications, which is exciting and a bit overwhelming. One of the highlights of this school year so far was getting to welcome the freshmen and help them move into their dorms. Outside of academics, I’ve been spending a lot of time in the ceramics studio. I’m head of the ceramics club at my school where we host workshops, and in about a month, I’ll be showing and selling some of my work at an art show in Los Feliz! Academically, I’ve been challenging myself this year by doubling up on sciences, taking both Advanced Neurobiology and Advanced Physics. I really believe that Riviera Ridge played a huge role in helping me discover my love for science and making me feel confi dent diving deeper into it.
Luke Walters ‘23 is in his junior year at Bishop Diego, where he plays volleyball both at school with Santa Barbara Volleyball club. He has established incredible relationships with each of his teachers throughout high school—a highlight is that he is currently enrolled in AP Calculus. Luke is incredibly grateful for his ten years at Riviera Ridge, and has returned every summer since graduation to serve as a summer camp counselor.
Violet Archibald ‘23
Recently I’ve started my third year at Laguna Blanca as a Junior. have been busy with the school volleyball team, preparing to be editor of the yearbook, and violin orchestra and lessons outside of school. I love Laguna, and I am so grateful for how my two years at Riviera Ridge prepared me so well for high school!
Maya Llewellwn ‘25 is going to San Marcos and is adjusting well. Over the summer she took Spanish at City College and that really helped her get back in the study mode. She is playing flag football on the offensive side for the fall. In winter, she will play basketball. Maya still sees her Riviera Ridge friends and often has lunch with them or goes to the football games with them.
Neil Mcginness ‘25

After seven great years at Riviera Ridge, Neil is now an incoming freshman at Santa Barbara High School. He’s most excited about being part of the VADA program (especially loving his sketching class first period) and joining the SBHS boys basketball team. Neil spent most of his summer training for basketball and participating in the summer league. His love of art and sport are both areas that were nurtured and fostered at Riviera Ridge, and though he misses his friends and teachers there, he’s entering high school with a strong foundation for what lies ahead. Thank you for all the support over the years!

As I reflect on the 2024-2025 school year, my heart is truly overflowing with gratitude. The journey we’ve been on together has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it is with immense pride that we share this Annual Report—a true celebration of our collective spirit.
This year, the energy and vision for our future have been powered by the incredible generosity of our donors and the selfless dedication of our volunteers. The very foundation of our success is the commitment of our community, which enables our students and faculty to thrive in an excellent, kind, and continually innovative environment.
Thanks to you, we’ve been able to create meaningful opportunities that directly benefit our students. Your philanthropic support has allowed us to enhance our academic programs, expand our arts and athletics, and ensure our campus remains a safe and inspiring home for everyone. Our volunteers have dedicated countless hours to serving on committees, cheering on our teams, and bringing our community events to life. Your actions, whether through a generous gift or a simple day of service, are a powerful testament to your belief in our mission and a genuine partnership in our children’s education.
As we look ahead, we do so with a future that’s built on a foundation of your belief in us. The spirit of our school is a direct reflection of your love and service, and for that, I am so grateful. On behalf of our students, faculty, and staff, we thank you for your enduring commitment to the education, health, and well-being of our children. It is a true privilege to lead side by side with you every day.
With sincere gratitude,
