35th Reunion!
Kudos to our Class Reunion Organizers Extraordinaire Lori Beckman Bohm and Laura Dehlendorf! A wonderful weekend in April was enjoyed Friday night, Saturday at CSG and then again Saturday night! We loved sharing stories, getting caught up, admiring our youth and beauty and laughing until our sides hurt. Loved carousing the halls, Senior Commons, Shedd Theater and our classrooms. The delight will be long lasting and our ideas for our 40th reunion already forming. Dueling pianos and brunch, anyone?!

Ann Hamilton, Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Art, delivered the commencement address to over 1,700 graduates at The Ohio State University’s summer term commencement, August 4, 2013. A visual artist, Hamilton is internationally recognized for her large-scale multimedia, multi-sensory installations. She recently premiered a major new work titled “the event of a thread” at the Park Avenue Armory in New York. Ohio State University Interim President Joseph Alutto says, “Professor Hamilton has been recognized around the world for her profound and moving work. Her immense talents as an artist, teacher and scholar make her the ideal choice to serve as commencement speaker.” Ohio State’s recognition of Hamilton’s work can be seen in her permanent installation, VERSE, in the William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library. Located in the Buckeye Reading Room, VERSE is a two-color cork floor laid as a field of words set in relief.

Elaine Chu reported “It was fun to see a photo of our class reunion on Facebook in real time! I continue to teach music and art to kids and adults. Greencraft magazine recently featured my artwork, which at times focuses on recycled materials. If you’re look for affordable gifts, there are hand bound books, jewelry, and greeting cards at etsy.com/shop/ EGChuHandcrafted. My 9-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son also seem to like the arts. They set up their table within my booth at a craft fair – friendly competition!
