HOW TO REGISTER

Registration can be completed online or in person at your local community center. To register online, visit ColumbusRecParks. com/Camps. An ActiveNet® account is required for registration. If you are a new user, you will need to create an ActiveNet® account and include both parent and camper information. For additional information, visit ColumbusRecParks.com/Camps.

We accept credit cards (VISA, MasterCard or Discover), cash, money orders and cashier checks. Cashier checks and money orders are to be made out to: City of Columbus.

SPACE IS LIMITED

Camps fill up quickly! To streamline registration, please create or update your ActiveNet® account in advance. Registration—whether online or inperson—operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and enrollment is secured only once participants have completed the registration process and receive an email confirmation.

WAITING LIST

To ensure the best experience for campers, all camps enroll a maximum number of participants.

ƒ If a camp is full, there is an option to be added to the waiting list.

ƒ Campers will not be charged additional fees to be placed on the waiting list.

ƒ Campers will be notified via email as openings become available, with notifications beginning on May 15 Campers must enroll within 24 hours of receiving the email.

ADDITIONAL CAMP DETAILS

Additional information, including a parent letter and a weekly schedule, will be emailed prior to the start of camp to the address associated with your child's ActiveNet® account.

To make sure your camper information and email address are up to date, follow these steps:

1. Click on “Manage Family Member” at the bottom of the screen

2. Click on “Edit” next to the camper’s name

3. Click on “Contact Information” to confirm or update your email address

PAYMENT INFORMATION

Payment is required at registration, either in full or via automatic weekly payments (starting the first Friday in April and continuing until the last

Friday in May or until the balance is paid). All camp fees must be paid prior to first day of camp.

If paying by credit card, a card must be added at the time of registration and remain on file. Residents paying via a payment plan must maintain a credit card on file until the account balance is paid in full. Participants also have the option to pay in person at a local community center before the start of a camp session; contact your local community center for more details.

RESIDENCY POLICY

Residents are those who live within the municipal boundaries of Columbus. Non-residents must pay additional fees. To ensure accurate billing, indicate residency when

adding your camper, as incomplete residency status defaults to nonresident fees. To update your camper's status in ActiveNet®, go to “Manage Family Member,” click “Edit” by the camper’s name, then update “Address Information.” We cannot issue credits or refunds due to residency errors.

To confirm residency, visit www. franklincountyauditor.com. If Columbus is your tax district, you qualify for resident rates.

CANCELATION POLICY

Columbus Recreation and Parks Department reserves the right to adjust or cancel camps due to insufficient enrollment and unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, registrants will be notified by email or phone and may transfer to another camp or receive a full refund. For camper cancelations, please review our camp refund policy.

CAMP HOURS & LATE PICK-UP FEES

The department offers participants the option of drop-off times before camp and pick-up times after camp for added flexibility. Campers must be picked up within the allotted camp hours or be subject to additional Late PickUp Fee charges being assessed. Late fees are due immediately and must be paid before the camper returns to any camp.

Before Camp Drop-Off: 7:30-8 a.m.

Camp Hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

After Camp Pick-Up: 5-5:30 p.m.

Late Pick-Up Fee: A $15 fee applies for pick-ups between 5:30-5:45 p.m., with an additional charge of $1 per minute for arrivals after 5:45 p.m.

INCLUSION SUPPORT SERVICES

We welcome campers of diverse backgrounds and abilities, supporting individual needs through reasonable accommodations without fundamentally altering the program. Inclusion support staff collaborate to create a safe and enjoyable experience, offering support for a range of developmental, learning, physical and sensory needs.

Each camper is expected to meet the minimum behavioral and participation guidelines. Campers must: generally be able to follow instructions, communicate needs, participate with minimal assistance, navigate the environment independently, manage hygiene and understand safety rules. One-on-one staffing is not provided; however, you may bring a support person (subject to a background check).

To request inclusion support services:

1. Register for your desired camp via ActiveNet® .

2. Complete an Inclusion Support Services Request Form: ColumbusRecParks.com/ inclusion-support

3. A qualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist will reach out in 3-5 business days to set up an intake meeting.

REFUND POLICY

To receive a refund, a request must be submitted online at ColumbusRecParks.com/Camps

Click on “Refund Policy” to get started. The department will not honor any refund requests submitted after May 12 unless extenuating medical circumstances occur. Refunds by check take six to eight weeks to process. A $15 processing fee will be assessed for each refund request.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Columbus Recreation and Parks Department is pleased to offer financial assistance for many of our camps to support families in need. The amount of assistance provided will be based on household income and the number of family members. To apply, select "Financial Aid" option during registration, and upload the required documentation for eligibility verification to ePACT.

PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY

To qualify for financial assistance, you must provide proof of income through one of the following documents:

ƒ A copy of your most recent federal income tax return.

If you do not file taxes, you may submit any of the following:

ƒ A Public Assistance, Cash, or Nutrition Benefits Award Letter, or a verified letter from a Job and Family Services (JFS) caseworker with documented income information.

ƒ An official letter from a JFS case worker, confirming income value.

ƒ A SSA-1099 Social Security or Social Security Disability year-end statement.

ƒ A 1099G Unemployment Compensation year-end statement.

ƒ A Child Support Enforcement yearend statement.

All submitted documents must include both the parent/guardian and camper’s information.

COMMUNITY CENTER CAMPS

Our community center camps offer exciting, week-long themed programs for youth ages 6-12, spanning eight weeks throughout the summer. Campers will enjoy various activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, science experiments and nature exploration. You can register for a single week or the entire summer. SPORTS CAMPS

JUMP START YOUR GAME!

DESCRIPTION

A week filled with plenty of sports! Each week will focus on at least two sports. Daily sessions will involve sports drills, skills and games. Sports may include: baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football, pickleball, dodgeball, cheerleading, and more! Beginners will gain a better understanding of a variety of sports while learning basic skills. Intermediate athletes will enhance their skills and develop strategies for improved play. The camp is conveniently located next to a swimming pool, tennis courts, walking track, and library. Get ready to jump-start your game!

COACH SUNNIE’S GYMNASTICS CAMP

DESCRIPTION

Come to Carriage Place Community Center this summer for a fun and exciting gymnastics mini-camp. All levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to participate! We will work on all gymnastics fundamentals, from rolls to more advanced skills such as front and back handsprings. This is the perfect place to try gymnastics for the first time or to continue working on skills you've already learned! Each Friday, the gymnasts will perform for their family and friends. The morning performance will be at 11 a.m., and the afternoon performance will be at 3:30 p.m. Join us, and have some fun this summer!

ARTS CAMPS

ELEMENTARY CLAY ACADEMY

Elementary Clay Academy is a two-week long introduction to the visual arts in the medium of clay. Campers will create two ceramic projects on the first day of camp, one with hand-building techniques and one assisted by staff on the wheel. They will glaze and decorate their artwork on the Wednesday of camp, and display their artwork on Friday of camp in an End of Camp Gallery Show. This camp offers young artists a chance to be introduced to the ceramics medium while also enjoying fun camp favorites like swimming, games, and team-building activities.

PLEASE NOTE: To ensure a successful experience, this camp is best suited for participants who can focus for a significant period of time, follow multi-step instructions and work independently in a group setting. Studio sessions will be 90-120 minutes in length twice a day.

TEEN CLAY ACADEMY

Teen Clay Academy is a two-weeklong exploration of visual arts in the medium of clay. Campers will explore the ceramic arts through handbuilding and wheel-throwing during the first week of camp and will focus on decorating and glazing during the second week of camp. Campers will also present their art pieces along with artist statements at the End of Camp Gallery Show. Campers will be instructed by knowledgeable ceramic artists who will be able to provide inspiration, support, and guidance as students bring their own unique and artistic visions to life.

Camp Public Health is a weeklong career exploration day camp for teens, blending health, environmental, and social sciences. Campers will explore how professionals like doctors, nurses, dietitians, sanitarians, and epidemiologists protect communities and promote health. Campers will engage with experts from Columbus Public Health, and they will visit The Ohio State University College of Public Health to see public health careers and education in action. This camp offers an inside look at the dynamic field of public health, emphasizing the importance of protecting and advocating for healthier neighborhoods and communities.

INSPIRE POLICE & FIRE EXPLORATION CAMP

AGES 6-12

Campers will be introduced to the field of public safety, and learn some of the basic techniques used by police officers and firefighters in the Columbus Division of Police and the Columbus Division of Fire.

Campers will also tour facilities, see specialized equipment and get to know the officers and firefighters. There is a graduation ceremony at the end of each week, and all campers will receive a certificate.

Each day, campers will be transported from Marion Franklin Center to different facilities and return to Marion Franklin Center by 4 p.m.

CARRIAGE PLACE CARDBOARD KINGDOM

DESCRIPTION

Cardboard Kingdom is a roleplaying camp where we create characters, choose paths and build cardboard props and gear for our adventure. Be ready to protect your forts, have epic battles and seek lost treasures. We will use box cutters and hot glue guns to build our projects; campers will be trained to use them with assistance.

Therapeutic Recreation Summer Camps are an inclusive camp experience for youth with and without disabilities. Campers engage in weekly theme-based activities to strengthen social skills, increase leisure awareness, and build fine and gross motor coordination.

With a staff-to-camper ratio of 1:3, campers have the opportunity to work in small groups to complete tasks that will build confidence and foster independence. Daily activities include swimming, gym games, social-emotional learning, cooking, gardening, and arts and crafts. Accessible transportation is

provided for field trips. Campers must be able to follow instructions and function independently and safely in small group and community settings. leadership, personal branding, financial literacy and more. Because work and life affect each other, coaches provide service linkage and coaching as needed to help families. Community Centers: Assist staff within the community center with various tasks, such as ensuring standards of acceptable conduct, cleaning and maintaining the facilities, opening and closing buildings, and assisting with activities within the center.

Summer Camps: Assist with the camp by supervising and facilitating

activities such as group games, nature, art and sports. Camps vary from sport or art-specific to general day camps. Hours vary depending on the camp.
