HOW TO REGISTER

Registration can be completed online or in-person at your local community center. To register online, visit ColumbusRecParks.com/Camps. An ACTIVENet® account is required for registration. Instructions are available on the website. Please include information for both camper and parent/guardian. Online and in-person registration for most camps opens on Tuesday, Feb. 27 * Residents 12 p.m. | Non-residents 7 p.m.

We accept credit cards (VISA, MasterCard or Discover), cash, money orders and cashier checks. Cashier checks and money orders are to be made out to: City of Columbus.

Campers must meet age requirements by the start of camp. Do not mail payment/ payment information.

SPACE IS LIMITED Camps fill up quickly. To save time during the registration process, be sure to create or update your ACTIVENet® account. In-person registration is completed on a first-come, first-served basis. However, online registrations are being accepted at the same time, and spots are not guaranteed.

Campers on the waiting list will be notified by phone or email if an opening becomes available. Notifications will begin May 15. Please update the email for both the head of household and camper.

Additional information, including a parent letter and a weekly schedule, will be emailed prior to the start of camp to the address associated with your child's ACTIVENet® account.

To ensure the best experience for campers, all camps enroll a maximum number of participants.

To make sure your camper information and email address are up to date, follow these steps:

If a camp is full, there is an option to be added to the waiting list.

Click on “Edit” next to the camper’s name

Click on “Contact Information” to confirm or update your email address

If successfully enrolled in another program, a camper will not be charged additional fees to be placed on the waiting list for the full camp during the same transaction. If a camper is added to the full camp waiting list only, no additional charges will be added this year.

PAYMENT INFORMATION Payment is required for registration and can be made in full, or you can choose to have automatic payments charged to the credit card on file between April 10-May 26. All camp fees must be paid prior to first day of camp. If you wish to pay by credit card, a card on file is required at the time of registration. You also have the option to pay in-person at your local community center prior to the withdrawal dates. Contact the center for more information. Registrations received in the mail will not be processed until after the Feb. 27 registration date. Some camps will be full after the first day of registration. RESIDENCY POLICY A resident is anyone who physically resides within the municipal boundaries of the City of Columbus. Anyone who resides outside of City limits must pay non-resident fees. Mark your child as a resident or non-resident when adding them to your account, or you will be automatically charged the non-resident fee if left blank. To update camper information, click on “Manage Family Member” at the bottom of the screen, click on edit next to the camper’s name. Then click on “Address Information” to update the geographic area. Look up your address at www.franklincountyauditor.com. If Columbus is your tax district, you qualify for resident rates.

CANCELATION POLICY Columbus Recreation and Parks reserves the right to cancel or adjust camp schedules due to an insufficient number of campers. In the event of a cancellation, registrants will be notified by email. Registrants may then transfer to another open camp or receive a full refund. For camper cancellations, see details under the Camp Refund Policy section.

LATE PICK-UP FEES Campers must be picked up by the end of the specified pick-up time each day. All campers picked up after this time will be assessed a fee that must be paid prior to the camper returning to any camp. Fees are assessed per camper. Up to 15 minutes late: $10 15 minutes late or more: $10 + $1 per minute 6

INCLUSION SUPPORT SERVICES Columbus Recreation and Parks encourages participation of a diverse population and accommodates people with varying abilities and learning styles. Inclusion support staff develop accommodation plans to support campers with, but not limited to, developmental and learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory challenges, autism, ADHD, Down syndrome and emotional challenges. Reasonable accommodations are provided to enable an individual’s successful participation in camps. Reasonable accommodations are individualized techniques and resources used to enhance program participation without fundamentally altering the program. Accommodations also help staff create an environment where all campers can have a safe, successful and enjoyable recreation experience. All campers are required to meet the minimum participation guidelines and desired behavior expectations of the camp. If accommodation is required to accomplish this, an accommodation request must be completed. One-on-one staffing is not provided; however, campers may bring their own support person, who must pass a criminal background check.

REFUND POLICY To receive a refund, a request must be submitted online at ColumbusRecParks.com/Camps. You can start this process by clicking on the “Refund Policy” button. The department will not honor any refund requests submitted after May 15 unless there are extenuating or unforeseeable circumstances that arise. Refunds take six to eight weeks to process. A $15 processing fee will be assessed for each refund request.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Columbus Recreation and Parks offers multiple financial aid asssistance packages for families for the majority of our camps. The amount of assistance varies depending on how you qualify. To apply, fill out the Financial Assistance Request Form online at ColumbusRecParks.com/Camps. All campers must come from a household where taxes have been filed for the tax year ending December 31, 2023.

JUMP START YOUR GAME! DESCRIPTION

A week filled with plenty of sports for those ages 6-12 and 12-17. Each day will involve two sports to focus on: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These halfday sessions will involve sports drills, skills and games. Sports may include baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, pickleball, dodgeball and dance! Beginners will gain a better understanding of a variety of sports while learning basic skills. Intermediate athletes will enhance their skills and develop strategies for improved play. There will be special guest speakers and field trips. Let’s play ball!

HOCKEY | STREET, ICE AND ROLLER DESCRIPTION

Each camper receives individual instruction while participating in drills, contests and team play. Campers are expected to actively participate, which helps them improve their hockey skills and develop their fitness level. Campers ice skate on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in full hockey gear if they have it; warm clothes (suitable for ice skating) are allowed if they do not have gear. An awards ceremony and street hockey jamboree will occur on the camp's last day.

Come to Carriage Place this summer for a fun and exciting gymnastics mini-camp for ages 6-14. All levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to participate! We will work on all gymnastics fundamentals, from rolls to more advanced skills such as front and back handsprings. This camp is the perfect place to try gymnastics for the first time or continue working on skills you have already learned! Each Friday, the gymnasts will perform for their family and friends. The morning performance will be at 11:30 a.m., and the afternoon performance will be at 3:30 p.m. Join us and have some fun this summer!

Campers receive performance training, and character and leadership development. The camp is divided into two leagues: Transitional and Breakthrough. Transitional focuses on athletes new to basketball, while Breakthrough focuses on experienced athletes.

CLAY ACADEMY Columbus Recreation and Parks is eager to offer this rare opportunity for your child to dive deep into the world of clay. Does your child already love to imagine, build and create? Us too! While attending the Clay Academy, your child will enjoy two weeks in an immersive art experience, working each day in hand-building and wheelthrowing, walking away with ceramic creations you can use and cherish for years. We explore everything from sculpture to surface design, fun clay challenges and creating functional cups and bowls*.
