2023 Theme: Closer to the Heart Saving Places® 2023 will celebrate the heart of preservation, the people, partners and funders making a difference in communities throughout Colorado. Join us for a conference that looks at the stories behind the preservation of place, the cultural heritage, and the context behind some of our most well known, and overlooked communities. For over 25 years, Colorado Preservation, Inc. has hosted the annual Saving Places® Conference, which brings together over 700 individuals from across the state and beyond. The conference brings critical training and networking opportunities to attendees.

The 2023 conference will be held at the Hilton Embassy Suites in Boulder (NEW for 2023!) over three days. This conference will be the first to be held in person and live-streamed for offsite attendees and will incorporate a twoday On the Road workshop in La Junta, Colorado. On the Road is a new feature that highlights local voices and rare behind the scenes tours to give attendees a regional deep dive into local traditions, culture, and heritage. Colorado Preservation, Inc.

Colorado Preservation, Inc.’s (CPI) Saving Places® conference is the leading statewide historic preservation conference in the country. This three day event provides high quality education and networking opportunities to professionals in the fields of planning, archaeology, and historic preservation. Typically, the conference convenes more than 700 attendees. The addition of a second two day On the Road event in the summer provides CPI the opportunity to expand the conference’s reach by engaging with attendees no longer limited by conference timing, location, and travel costs. It also supports rural Colorado communities and heritage tourism with a focus on local partners and unique aspects of Colorado’s regional history. Marketing and promotion for the 2023 conference will extend beyond Colorado with a desire to increase regional and national audiences.
