A Season for Love
Our Confetti issue is always a favorite of mine; it’s a labor of love that I look forward to every year. While reviewing countless images for this issue, I was giddy with excitement just thinking of the scents, sounds and sights that come with spring and summer celebrations. I can’t help but smile at the thought of a champagne bar cart adorned with flowers. My late mother was an inspiration when it came to any celebration, from birthday parties as kids to small gatherings of dinner parties as adults. There was always the extra thought and creativity into every detail, from the flowers to the food.
Whether donning a bespoke, work–of-art fascinator or ordering easy-peasy packaged party kits from a local event planner, any special occasion is made better with the work of these local artists, planners and florists, who are truly the heroes of the celebration scene.
If you are planning, attending or just love all things celebratory, this is the issue for you. Check out these Colorado venues, from LoDo and Lyons to Alta Lakes. There are so many stunning places to tie the knot in our gorgeous state.
Wedding gowns usually take center stage, and this year’s collection from Perla is truly breathtaking. Designer Soña Cox pours her heart into each design, making every bride look and feel her best. (Great news: Perla now has a new Denver location.)
When it comes to wedding registries, couples tend to wait until the last minute to curate their lists, almost seeing it as a chore when it should be a joy. Instead of opting for the standard must-haves, we’ve pulled together a mix of items as unique as you are.
Finally, don’t miss our Event Stars, who are all experts in the art of celebrating life’s big moments as well as intimate dinner parties—and everything in between.
Here’s to a vibrant season of soirees!
With love, Elizabeth

“Our inspiration is found all around us, through our travels, the skies, the roads and everything in between. Fall Pando is a tribute to the majesty of the Aspen in the West. e term “Pando” refers to the cloning that created the largest, most dense organism ever found at nearly 40,000 trees. Our memories of standing amongst these beautiful stands of aspens, especially in the fall is the impetus for this piece. e aspen has been a favorite subject matter for us over the years and we love that our work continues to remind those who see it of the sight, sound and even smell of these beautiful trees.”

Madam Lou Bunch Day
Central City
A little-known part of Colorado’s history is that during the Gold Rush, Central City was a red-light district for local miners. When tuberculosis swept the camp, Madam Lou Bunch’s brothel-turned-makeshif-hospital restored the miners’ health, saving the town. Madam Lou is still honored today for her fast action in caring for the miners, with festivities that include a race of beds on wheels down Main Street, followed by a miners ball as a wink to the town’s past.

Bella Boutique | Kiwanis of Southeast Metro Denver | Colorado Feeding Kids
BELLA BOUTIQUE
Shopping for a prom dress is meant to create some of the most joyful memories a high school junior or senior will carry into adulthood. It can be a costly experience, though, with expenses easily topping $1,000 once the gown, shoes and accessories are factored in.
Tat can put prom out of reach for anyone whose family budget cannot bear that large of an outlay.
Tank goodness, then, for Bella Boutique, which since its founding in 2014 has been the source of free prom and homecoming outfts for teens who otherwise would not be able to purchase them. Te clothing and accessories are theirs to keep as a remembrance, to wear for another special occasion or to gif to someone else.
Founded by Tia Hunsperger, Bella Boutique is Denver’s only all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonproft where prom-goers can pick out the perfect outft in a space replicating a boutique or formalwear shop.
“Te frst year we were open, we dressed 18 students out of a school gym,” recalls Katie McDermott, president of Bella Boutique’s fve-member board. “Last year, we dressed 500.”
During this year’s prom and graduation season, Bella Boutique will welcome teen shoppers in a central Denver location on South Sheridan Boulevard provided by EXDO Properties, a division of EXDO Group Companies.
“It’s important for us to create a boutique setting, because we want everyone to feel special,” McDermott says. “Our emphasis is on equity, dignity and inclusion.”
Bella Boutique clients are current high school students who are on free or reduced-cost lunch programs and from a family facing fnancial hardship. Appointments for each one-hour shopping session are mandatory and can be made by visiting the boutique’s website. A limited number of walk-ins can be accommodated on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and noon and from 1 to 3 p.m.
Each client is paired with a volunteer personal shopper who can answer questions and guide the student through the selection process. “We have over 3,000 dresses in a variety of styles and sizes, including those that are gender-neutral,” McDermott notes. “Te students can bring friends, a parent or guardian, but they aren’t allowed in the shopping area because we want the student to make her own decisions.”
Bella Boutique accepts donations of gowns, shoes, accessories and money year-round. “We’re very fortunate to get donations not just from individuals but also from wedding shops that donate bridesmaid’s dresses, and from several area boutiques. Tings that are brand new, with tags still on them.”
Which, she adds, is important because Bella Boutique’s focus is to not have their young clients feel “less than.” Instead, “We want them to be excited and happy, to feel that what they have is theirs and not a rental.”
Drop-of donations are accepted at this year’s boutique site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through May 8. Donations of money, shoes, accessories and dresses size 0-30 can be mailed year-round to 1550 Larimer St., Suite 1004, Denver 80202. Specifc needs are listed on the Bella Boutique website.

KIWANIS OF SOUTHEAST METRO DENVER
In 2010, when Melissa Schupp and her husband, Keith, moved to Denver from Minnesota, they of course wanted to get to know their community better by meeting people and making friends— especially those who shared their commitment to community service.
A mutual friend introduced them to the Kiwanis DTC Club. While Keith settled into his new job, Melissa immersed herself in the club, serving three years on the board and one year as president.
But in 2019, when it became apparent that there were plenty of folks who would like to afliate with Kiwanis but were not available for daytime meetings, she and Gail Coombs helped start the Kiwanis of Southeast Metro Denver. Afer receiving its charter in February 2021, the group would meet at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Zig Zag Smoking Burgers in Greenwood Village.
Melissa, an executive assistant for a fnancial adviser, is now in the fnal stages of a three-year term as president of the Kiwanis SMD. Her husband is its treasurer. Kiwanis SMD is an afliate of Kiwanis International, which was founded in Detroit in 1915 and has some 142,000 members in 80 nations. It also is one of 86 clubs in the Kiwanis Rocky Mountain District, all of whom follow the international commitment to “serve the needs of children by fghting hunger, improving literacy and ofering guidance.”
Te signature project for Kiwanis SMD is the Second Wind Fund, a Denver-based nonproft that connects young people who are at risk for suicide with life-saving mental health treatment. Te club also provides volunteers and funding for several other area nonprofts, including Clothes to Kids, Colorado Feeding Kids and Shiloh House, and sponsors a Key Club at TunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch. Members also serve as Salvation Army bell-ringers during the Christmas season.
“We try not to overwhelm our members,” Melissa Schupp says. “We tell them they don’t have to volunteer for everything, just do what best fts your schedule.”
On May 4, the Kiwanis SMD will host Pints & Pinots at Te Dome at AMG in Greenwood Village to raise money for the Second Wind Fund. Tere will be wine and beer tastings, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, gif card rafe and a wine wall. Te goal is to top the $20,000 that was raised in 2022. Tickets are available at kiwanissemd.org.

COLORADO FEEDING KIDS
The numbers tell an eye-opening story about hunger in Colorado: 474,420 individuals strugle to access nutritious food and, of that number, 141,570 are children;
16 percent of Colorado children are not getting adequate nutrition due to family fnancial hardships;
20 percent of adults surveyed by Hunger Free Colorado in 2021 reported having to regularly cut back on or skip meals because they didn’t have the money to buy food; and
7.5 percent of older adults responding to a 2022 report on the State of Senior Hunger in America were forced to choose between buying groceries or purchasing the medications they needed to survive.
Fortunately, organizations like Colorado Feeding Kids are there to help. Since 2007, this all-volunteer nonproft has packed and distributed over
9 million meals that are distributed locally at no charge to recipients by partner food banks, churches and schools. In addition, meals are sent to cities here and abroad that have been hit by natural disasters, fre and war, and to Christian World Outreach for its work in combating hunger in developing countries.
Colorado Feeding Kids was formed by the South Denver Kiwanis Club. “We were looking for a community project that would have an appreciable impact on the food insecurity we were seeing in our local schools,” says Joe LaVigne, president of the Colorado Feeding Kids board and a Kiwanis Club member. “From there our eforts grew.”
Money raised by Colorado Feeding Kids is used to purchase and ship nutrient-dense family meal packs that provide a three-day supply of food created in collaboration with Iowa State University’s food science department.
Once the ingredients arrive in Colorado, they are stored at the Food Exchange Resource Network warehouse in Englewood until a cadre of CFK

A family-pack meal, for example, is distributed at the end of the week through school backpack programs. It contains six servings each of cinnamon-apple oatmeal, pasta with tomato-basil sauce, macaroni and cheese and assorted snacks—“Enough to get the family through the weekend,” LaVigne says. “Te packs ft discreetly into a backpack, so that the student receiving it isn’t shamed by having everyone see that he or she needs to receive free food. Bulk purchasing enables CFK to put together a meal pack for about 50 cents. However, with an ever-increasing need, fundraising eforts are being stepped up.
“Our meals go to almost every school in the region,” LaVigne says. “You might not think they’d be needed in afuent areas like Cherry Creek and Highlands Ranch, but they are.” And, with monthly SNAP benefts being reduced this year, partner food banks and churches are seeing a steep rise in requests for food.

JÄALA SHELDON
Your partner popped the question, you said yes, and now it’s time to plan the wedding of your dreams.
Ideas about food, décor and other special touches are swirling in your head, but turning those dreams into reality isn’t your strong suit. Hiring an event planner would be a logical step but, yikes, those fees!
Tat’s where Jäala Sheldon comes in. For 20-plus years, she has helped to create memorable occasions—the kind that typically come with a hefy price tag—for clients of her Denver-based event planning frm, jäala & co.
Recently, though, Sheldon has added a service for couples who may not have the need, or funds, for a fully executed event. For a fraction of the cost of her start-to-fnish services, Sheldon meets with the bride and groom to do a deep dive into what they envision. She then assembles a “thoughtfully curated” visual design board for the big day, giving brides and grooms “a road map to dissect and decide, according to their budget. I give them all the pieces and parts that make up the wedding they want, and then pass the baton” to them or their wedding planner.
Of course, if the couple needs additional guidance, she can help.
“I can pull in the best vendors for the food, the music, customized napkins, spruced-up cocktails with garnishes, stir sticks and pretty glasses. I want the guests to experience all fve senses, to feel like they’ve been to something special.”
We asked Sheldon a few questions to learn more about what makes her and her expertise so unique:
What is the most unique event you’ve ever planned?
A party for which we had to think outside, inside and all around the box for a client who had just moved from New York City. Tey were still living out of boxes, so we made everything—including the lounge, foosball tables and bar—out of cardboard boxes. My favorite part was the bubble wrap red carpet-style entry. As people walked in, they had to step on and pop the bubbles.

A MAVEN OF MILLINERY
Which comes frst: the hat, or the dress? As a milliner, Jennifer Kofer is compelled to be on “team hat”—and once you see her bespoke headwear, you will see why her company, Vivian Blooms, has a vibrant “team hat” following.
While a hat might seem like an accessory or a supporting character, it sets the tone for your entire ensemble. Kofer enables clients to celebrate life’s moments with fanciful headwear, declaring an event’s importance. “Tey are tangible reminders of life’s most momentous and ceremonial signifcant events.”
Much like Napoléon Bonaparte’s signature bicorne hat, Coco Chanel’s wide-brimmed number adorned with ribbons and large plumes, Pharrell Williams’ Vivienne Westwood “Bufalo” hat or the Philip Treacy bow fascinator that Princess Beatrice wore to William and Kate’s nuptials, headwear can defne a moment.
According to Hats: A History of Fashion in Headwear, by Hilda Amphlett, hats were initially used for military, religious or survival purposes, but in the 18th century when the fashion industry developed, millinery became a true profession. “Te word milliner comes from the word Milan, which was the hub of the world’s textiles and fashion trades during the Middle Ages,” explains Kofer. “Te crafsmen making fashionable hats became associated with the city because of the origin of the materials they used.”
As an expatriate, Kofer has traveled the world, making her home in Kuala Lumpur, China’s Guangzhou and Shanghai, and currently lives in the Middle East. She has gathered inspiration from her unique experiences in each location and has taken classes from fashion design to culinary arts—and found her calling with millinery.
Many of her hats and fascinators include fowers made of the fnest natural velvets, silks and linens that are starched and then hung to dry. Tis centuries-old French millinery technique allows Kofer the freedom to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Afer the fabric has stifened, the petals are cut out, twisted, turned and worked into arrangements to be attached to the custom-made base along with feathers, ribbons or even jewels.
Once Kofer has fnished a piece, she searches for just the right dress to bring the headwear to life, the right tilt of the head and, of course, the best event to show of her masterpiece. “Finding that special hat should be a fun and memorable experience,” she says. “You should feel comfortable and at ease, but also hats can make you feel powerful and confdent, and I love seeing that transformation happen when a client fnds the perfect hat for them; it’s so meaningful for me and for them.” •

Kofler’s advice to find the best hat for you
The ROUND face shape, like Selena Gomez and Drew Barrymore, will look better with a slanting brim than with, say, a bowler hat. Go for hats that have an angular feel: a small trilby or fedora at an angle, for example.
The OVAL face shape, like Beyoncé and Bella Hadid, can work well with almost any hat shape.
The HEART face shape, like Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon, typically looks fab in hat styles such as caps, cloches, brimmed hats and pillboxes.
The LONG face shape, like Liv Tyler and Sarah Jessica Parker, will look best in a wide-brimmed hat worn at an angle or worn down across the forehead. This will reduce the elongation and create a pleasant balance of facial features. The wonderful slope of a beret is also a fabulous choice.
The SQUARE face shape, like Jennifers Gardner, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez, work well with asymmetrical styles. Tilt your hat for extra panache.
The DIAMOND face shape, like Halle Berry and Rihanna, should try straight-brimmed hats that lay flat across the brow. The forehead is smaller than the widest part of the diamond face, so a medium to large brim would also work well.

Finding the perfect gown for their wedding day is akin to matchmaking and falling in love all over again, bringing a little celebratory magic to the entire nuptial experience.
We turned to expert Soña Cox, owner of Perla Bridal Las Vegas and the recently opened Perla Bridal Denver (in the Santa Fe Arts District), to identify the latest and greatest trends in the vast bridal gown industry. “Te new year brings new beginnings, and that means taking in the fresh, new styles and trying something adventurous,” says Cox. “Dresses for this season are coming in full swing with their bold and beautiful designs.” For brides looking to add a little spice and mystery to their gowns, high slits are a modern and trendy detail. For those looking to add a fun and

Transparency is surging forward in popularity, for a bride who is a bit of a daredevil and wants to add a dramatic fair conveying a modern, seductive style.
“One of the most timeless looks … is a simple satin dress or clean lace dress,” ofers Cox. “Look to the recent celebrity brides as an example: Meghan Markle, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez or Sarah Hyland.”

the space will photograph better and make a cohesive look and feel for the wedding day. If opting for a simpler gown, accessories such as detailed necklaces and earrings can really stand out, as opposed to competing with a complex gown.
A modern alternative to the wedding veil is a cape; the sleeveless cloak is a recent trend that allows for an entirely diferent look and ease of removing before the reception party. Another new trend is the introduction of gowns in pastel blues, joining the already popular trend of sof pinks and champagnes. Patterns are also starting to make an appearance on gowns.

FLORA STYLE
Flower-inspired fashion is all the rage this season. From avant-garde fabrics to feminine street style to artistic wedding florals, designers are taking notes from nature
Story Kerrie Lee Brown
48 coloradoexpression com flowers & fashions
There’s no denying that fowers and fashion are connected. From primitive people to the Egyptians to the Romans to the Victorians, fowers have been used to enhance the way we look, smell and feel for thousands of years, and the allure of the bloom is as strong today as it has ever been.
No matter where you live or how you dress, fowers have become a form of elegant expression. Whether you’re wearing a casual, daisy-designed blouse to browse the shops in Aspen or a rose-colored evening gown complemented with a lily in your hair for a fancy gala, fowers and fashion go together like berets and baguettes.
Natural beauty
Te timeless versatility of foral prints makes them a perennial trend that blooms each season, mirroring nature. Vibrant or muted colors, texture and ever-evolving foliage morph before our eyes, just as the runways of the world recently showcased an array of fresh and fowy blouses, reinvented jeans and fower-power prints during Fashion Week in Paris, New York and Milan.
Colorado wardrobe stylist Hailee Lucchesi says designing with fowers sparks the creativity and fun side of fashion. Known for lacing her style projects with a variety of foral inspirations, Lucchesi works with an array of designers and fashion houses that take their nod from the fora that we are accustomed to here in Colorado.
“Flowers have such an ever-changing ability to be powerful or subdued; that’s what makes them so alluring,” Lucchesi explains. “Florals are limitless in the sense that they can act as your main hero piece or the accessory icing on the cake. Whether you’re going bold with a foral suit set or keeping your outft laid-back with monochromatic tones and a pop of foral in a handbag or shoe, you’ll be sure to shine this season.”
Flower power
Afer starting her fashion career at Vogue and moving into celebrity styling, Lucchesi has seen almost everything in the industry. When it comes to chic looks and an impressive range of designers, A Line Boutique in Cherry Creek (one of four locations in Colorado) is her go-to for variety. “I love that they carry many heritage brands but also continue to seek out new and emerging brands,” she says.
Sufce it to say, the spring and summer runways were full of foral creations. Tey were presented in streetwear and accessories, and by local designers all the way to haute couture. “Flowers are dominant in every category, and I hope they are here to stay,” says Lucchesi. “Tat’s the entire premise of fashion. Being able to interchange high and low elements into your wardrobe, making you feel bold and beautiful, just like the foral itself.”

Classic beauty personified, the Gia Gown by Guillermo Pharis brings blooms to life. Available at Guillermo Pharis Bridal.
On the bridal side
Guillermo Pharis is a New York-based designer who moved his studio to Denver during the pandemic. His craf is bridal couture but, for the avant-garde bride, he has a spectacular collection of nontraditional dresses. “Take his Gia gown, for example,” says Lucchesi, which is “whimsical, bold and efervescent.” Adds the stylist, who works closely with the team at Guillermo Pharis Bridal, “Te long train and classic silhouette keep you coming back for a second look.”
Pharis, who is a proponent of bridging romance and heroism, says fowers are universal in fashion. “From fowers to plants, nature plays a big role in our lace motifs and fabric patterns … [and] delivers a very ergonomic and harmonious beauty to my designs,” he says.
Te fower paintings of French artist Henri Matisse are a main inspiration for Pharis. “Te invention of fabric printing contributed to preserve fowers in fashion, so we could pass their beauty from generations to generations,” he notes. So, naturally, when it comes to the designer’s unprecedented take on bridal fashion, it’s how the fabrics fow that makes all the diference.
Floral artistry
Erin Hornstein, lead designer at Plum Sage Flowers in Denver, also shares a talent for fower artistry. “Flowers have been a focus of fashion design for years. Teir vibrancy and natural beauty are an inspiration for textiles and art alike. From feminine blooms such as peonies and roses to tropical leaves such as the monstera, fowers evoke a mood that can instantly elevate an article of clothing,” Hornstein says. In fact, some of her favorite designers focus on foral patterns in vibrant or subtle shades and patterns, including Alice and Olivia, Farm Rio and Marchesa.
As a full-service foral design studio located in a historic building in west Washington Park, Plum Sage Flowers focuses on creativity, superb service and beautiful designs that make weddings and special occasions stand out. Te boutique assists brides who are looking for au courant enhancements like fresh fowers placed on accessories or made into stunning necklaces or hair adornments.
“Real, faux fabric or jewels, the shape and colors of petals, blooms and stems truly complement and enhance any accessory,” says Hornstein. “We also fnd that most female wedding honorees prefer to wear a wrist cuf with a foral accent versus the elastic or pin-on corsage. [Other trends that] brides prefer are a single bloom on a pin for their hairstyle or a detailed cluster of blooms and texture on a comb.”
It’s clear that forals have made their mark in the fashion world in more ways than one—and we couldn’t be happier. Afer all, fowers symbolize love, peace and beauty, and what’s more feminine than that? •

Some weeks later, the members of the bridal party arrive at a culinary school with the foodie-related gif in hand, happily accepting the champagne cocktail ofered at the door and ready to dive into a hands-on cooking class.
What could be better? No debauchery or tacky party buses. No worries, no fuss, no clean-up. And aprons, too!
Tis actually happens. But it’s not just for bridal showers. Cook Street School of Culinary Arts in Denver is now hosting rehearsal dinners, bachelor parties (more cocktail-focused, of course), welcome gatherings, farewell brunches and more. Tese inclusive events are a chance for brides, grooms, friends and family to bond over the common love of food—while getting an education in how to cook for their partners. Tink of it as an elevated cooking class masquerading as a pre-wedding event.
Lina Kleinschmidt of Aurora recently hosted her rehearsal dinner at Cook Street, much to the delight of her 20 guests. “Everyone was ob-
sessed with the dinner,” remembers the 29-year-old bride. “Tey were talking about it during the entire wedding weekend. It was perfect for us because food is such a huge part of our relationship,” she says, adding that her now-husband, Zach Jennings, is an instructor at Cook Street’s professional culinary program.
Teir guests were able to watch the culinary team cook and plate the dinner, with explanations of every dish and descriptions of the techniques that went into the preparation of the meal. With a large mirror overhead and a massive stove, the group watched the talented staf create their highly personal and customized menu. “My generation is going with more of what we want to do rather than what people expect us to do,” says Kleinschmidt. “When Zach gave a speech, he started crying tears of happiness that he could share his love of food with everyone who means the most to us.”
Cook Street owner Lindsey Reese agrees that the appeal of culinary wedding gatherings is a generational thing. “We’re seeing people who want to provide an experience for their guests,” she says. “Because of COVID, this generation realizes the value of cooking at home with friends and family. Now, they want to think outside the box for traditional events like weddings and let their guest be hands-on.”

Reese ofers two experiences for wedding events: a culinary competition, with a choice of crepe- or ravioli-making, including a chef demo and a pantry of arbitrary items to use in the competition, with judges and awards; or a cooking class, where guests learn how to prepare a three-course meal, along with knife skills and searing and sautéing instruction while enjoying the meal as the night progresses. Te couple can curate their own menu or sugest a culinary theme, such as Greek (learn how to make moussaka!), Pan-Asian or Mediterranean.
In addition to the culinary aspect of the private space, Reese will add on culinary-related gifs such as wine openers or cutting boards, and will even arrange for fowers, photo booths and balloon installations. “Culinary events are kind of new to the wedding event market,” she says. “It’s a whole new area for us to tap into. •

“Instead of hosting a standard sit-down dinner, we are able to encourage our guests to leave their seats and get involved in all the fun. It’s a lovely, inclusive and educational environment that keeps everyone happy and coming back for more!”

SWEET TREATS
Looking for a unique and fun way to elevate your celebration? We’ve gathered some lively libations, decadent desserts and party favors that pop for your next celebratory event.
CHEERS
Try adding a bubbly mobile bar into the mix; it’s the perfect addition to any soiree that your guests are sure to remember! Although there are lots of mobile bars, we are in love with La Piccolina, a fully customizable, pint-sized mobile bar pouring champagne, prosecco or sparkling wine on tap throughout Colorado for a little Dolce Vita!
Additionally, ofering a signature cocktail allows your guests to enjoy an elegant drink without waiting in line at an open bar. A few of our favorites include an Aperol spritz for a pop of color, or a classic whiskey sour.
Among the many low- or no-booze options, consider Bubbly Rosé or Golden Lager from Denver’s Get Grüvi or check out Lyre’s exquisite range of non-alcoholic spirits that look, taste, smell and sashay around your palate just like the original. Mix up a batch of jalapeño margaritas or jasmine gin and tonics, all sans alcohol.
LET THEM EAT CAKE
Multi-tiered wedding cakes have come a long way since their inception under the reign of King Charles II, when they were reserved for the grandeur of royal events. Today, tiered cakes have become the centerpiece of celebrations—and the sky is the limit in terms of design, shape, embellishments and favors.
Traditional British Lambeth cakes with layers of over-piped royal icing are having a big moment. Tink scrolls, garlands, swags, drapes, rufes, shells, scallops and pearls adorning a scrumptious cake typically topped with cherries. Popular in the 1930s, today these cakes ofer whimsy as well as nostalgia.
Master bakers always look at cakes as canvases. Tey can mirror the lace details in a bride’s gown for an elegant and elevated look, pipe three-dimensional fowers that look so real you do a double-take or paint a custom design on the cake that reproduces your invitations and table settings.
Another popular design is the rustic, “naked” layered cake where the icing and fllings don’t cover all the edges of the cake, leaving space for fruit, fowers and foliage to adorn the creation—perfect for our Colorado landscape.

If you’re looking for something more playful, a three-dimensional sculpted cake will certainly wow guests. Te key is to make sure it’s unique to the couple. For example, creating a cake reminiscent of the mountain town you’re getting hitched in, one in the shape of your beloved pet or even a cake “model” of the church would be sure to elicit delight.
PARTY GIFTS
Finding the perfect gif for your wedding party as well as your guests doesn’t have to be complicated. Tink of useful and memorable gifs that relate to your special day.
A monogrammed beach bag or beach towel from Te Denver Monogram and Letterpress Company for a destination wedding is a fun way to personalize a useful bridesmaid or groomsman gif. For summer soirees, consider a basket of straw cowboy hats adorned with ribbons in your wedding colors, custom sunglasses or beautiful fans that double as programs.
Something sweet is always appreciated, but to elevate the experience, the bespoke chocolates from Charbonnel et Walker are tops. Since 1875, it has created luxury chocolates in handmade heirloom boxes for royal families (yes, that royal family) and specialty celebrations. Having personal heart-shaped boxes with strawberry-and-white-chocolate trufes flled with creamy milk chocolate Marc de Champagne centers and rolled in powdered sugar for an extra touch of elegance, or a table towering with trufes for guests to enjoy on their way home, will ensure a memorable evening.
Te fowers at your event will always set the tone, so consider sharing those blooms with your guests. Personalized arrangements in bud vases can double as place cards, adding a layer of color to each tablescape. Additionally, notable Denver forist Newberry Brothers encourages repurposing foral centerpieces as gifs for the wedding party. Pair them with lavender shortbread cookies topped with edible fowers from Te Botanical Bakery of Denver, foral candles and a handwritten note for a heartfelt gif for them to enjoy now and later. •
For an elegant affair, handmade chocolate truffles in the most beautiful boxes are a delightful treat. Fun and functional personalized sun hats and beach bags are perfect bridesmaid gifts for destination weddings. The La Piccolina champagne bar cart is a show-stopper for any event. Monochromatic centerpieces from Newberry Brothers make for thoughtful party favors. A Lambeth-style cake is both nostalgic with ornate royal icing and traditionally topped with cherries. Personalize it in your wedding colors, or make table cakes in a variety of hues. Take a cue from nature with botanical cakes and cookies. They’re almost too pretty to eat!
