EPRD’s INSPIRE participants out on the ice at Evergreen Lake for a day of skills and drills For many it’s time to set New Year’s resolutions. When considering personal growth options, there’s nothing that can precede focusing on your health and fitness. A resolution formed as such can be easily realized when considering where we live and our access to the outstanding efforts of Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD). It’s easier than ever to prioritize your health. For over 50 years now, EPRD has successfully established recreational and fitness programs designed to enhance the lives of everyone. There is no age limit on these life-changing experiences. This ever striving and committed organization sums it up in their mission statement, which is to improve the quality of life within the community by providing “a wide range of excellent, financially responsible park and recreation amenities and programs while maintaining and enhancing the area’s mountain character.” Indeed! EPRD tackles these intentions with great diligence, as the entire team is on board to expand the current recreational and wellness offerings. OF THE MONTH to sports, aquatics, boating, camps, childcare, dance, educational classes, fishing, fitness, and wellness, along with outdoor recreation and much more. EPRD even provides onsite personal trainers and prescribed exercise professionals. Taking an in-depth look at wellness and fitness programs, it is clear that EPRD is committed to improving patrons’ physical health. This has proven especially significant to seniors and insurance carriers alike by decreasing or even eliminating visits to doctors and other healthcare facilities. Qualifying members in the community can enroll in their insurance-based programs at a reduced price. Many Colorado insurance companies will lower the cost, or even cancel a payment. It is not even necessary for members to leave home anymore, as many of the fitness classes are offered online through Zoom. For example, the Silver Sneakers Circuit,

Silver Fit and Renew Active Classes are weekly and focus on improvement of cardiovascular health. Classes such as kickboxing and strength development, online or in person, are other great ways to stay in shape as well. Members progress at their own level, achieving as much as possible while building cardiac stamina in the process. In addition, they are supported by a qualified team which helps create personalized fitness goals and monitor progress. On the other end of the age spectrum, youth programs abound -- including everything from gymnastics to climbing and hockey – and are sure to engage children of all ages with all areas of interest. Kids develop skills at their own pace as well. Enrichment classes designed to stimulate the mind of a child are available in addition to before and after school childcare. 2021 has been an exceptional year for EPRD youth athletic programs. Classes these days are literally booming with kids, with 2021 setting new enrollment records in basketball clinics
