Castle Rock repair shop gets horror fix Business serves as movie set for comic creep-out

By Shanna Fortier sfortier@colroadocommunitymdia.com A serial killer and human eyeball-eating auto mechanic was on the loose earlier this month at 1 Stop Tire and Auto in Castle Rock, during the six-day filming of “Auto Shop of Horrors.” The film, written by Glenn Berggoetz of Denver and Tim Gallagher of Sedalia, is a campy horror comedy about a crazy mechanic who believes if he eats enough human eyeballs he will be able to see into the future. The movie does not include any nudity or vulgar language, but, of course, does include scenes with bloody eyeballs. The film used all Colorado actors and crew, including Paul Rohrer, a Castle Rock resident with the Rohring Success Radio Show, as Detective Martin. “Normally, you don’t want to lend your name to something like this,” said John Manka, owner of 1 Stop Tire and Auto. “But it’s all local actors and it’s fun. It’s gonna be a good thing for Castle Rock.” Manka is the film’s major sponsor, as he

He has been very patient and accommodating to us.” According to Berggoetz, the duo already has a letter of intent from a distributor to release the film in 60 to 120 theaters around the country when the final edit is complete in the spring 2016. There also is talk of a special screening at 1 Stop Tire and Auto when the film is complete.
