The drive is the kickoff of Western Heritage Welcome, a new event in Castle Rock, which will act as tribute to the historic Douglas County Fair and Rodeo. “It’s our way of shining a spotlight on all that’s going on in Castle Rock during fair and rodeo week,” said Casey Willis, Castle Rock events manager. Senior center on a mission to raise funds Shifting demographics create need for increasing activities By Shanna Fortier sfortier@coloradocommunitymedia.com After a bout with cancer, a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and a move to Castle Rock, Glenda Martinez, 68, found herself less active than she had been in her life previously. “I was sitting at home and feeling very depressed and thinking about how stupid it was for me to be just sitting there all by myself,” she said. The lonely days by herself prompted Martinez to learn about and get involved with the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center.
