Paid parking in downtown Idaho Springs is here to stay. At its May 24 meeting, the City Council unanimously extended its agreement with Interstate Parking Company of Colorado until June 1, 2024. Idaho Springs and the company will continue to split revenues 50-50. The city also updated its downtown parking plan to further limit employee parking, reduce free parking for county residents and expand paid parking to spaces that were underutilized. Those changes will be going into effect this week and Interstate Parking will begin “soft enforcement,” as Assistant City Administrator Jonathan Cain described it, to ensure that people are aware of all the changes first.
