County names board members, director for new health department Process in crunch as deadline is Jan. 1 BY ROBERT TANN RTANN@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM
The approved map was the fourth iteration created by the Historic Preservation Commission, an advisory commission to city council, in collaboration with the City of Englewood. There are 40 neighborhoods on the map, with names including Cinderella City, Wellness District, Belleview Park and Historic Downtown Englewood.
With half a year left before the dissolution of the Tri-County Health Department, Arapahoe County has announced its five-person board, and the sole finalist for executive director, to helm future health services. “What we’re doing is unprecedented,” said Shawn Davis, a Coloradobased health care consultant who will serve on the county’s new Foundational Board of Health. Following the breakdown of TriCounty, which for more than 50 years had been delivering health services to Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas counties, Arapahoe has been in a race against time to create its own health department by Jan. 1, a day after TriCounty’s services will end. “We don’t have the option of delaying it or asking for an extension,” Davis said. “We owe it to the county to be ready by Jan. 1.” As that deadline looms, the department’s new board expressed optimism that it is on track to provide high-priority services to the county’s population of just under 650,000 by the beginning of next year. people,” Keller said. “A lot of people could benefit from helping each other, even just next-door neighbors.” Englewood’s annual day of service, also referred to as the“Be a Tool” service event, began in 2016 after a coalition of churches met with the city manager and decided SEE SERVICE, P6

After about five years of development, the Englewood Neighborhood Map, which names and sets the boundaries for 40 neighborhoods, was approved by Englewood City Council in a 6-0 vote during its June 20 general meeting. Council-
member Cheryl Wink was not present at the meeting. “I’m so thrilled to see this project come to completion,” said Chelsea Nunnenkamp, the District 2 city council member, calling the project a powerful tool for connecting citizens to Englewood’s history and creating a shared identity among residents. “It’s very exciting.”
