Anthony Palato dreamed of being a firefighter ever since he was a small child, said his brother-in-law, Steve Durie. “Tony epitomized the term

‘brother’ all his life,” Durie said at a memorial service Sept. 21, days after Palato died at age 55 on Sept. 15 after fighting cancer. “He loved every aspect of being a firefighter, especially the camaraderie, the joking around, the pranks, and (helping) neighborhoods that he served — but mostly the love he shared with his brothers and sisters” at South Metro Fire Rescue, Durie said. Littleton police officer David Snook was hospitalized in intensive care after sustaining multiple gun shots wounds Sept. 20, police said. The shooting led to a multi-day manhunt for the person police believe is responsible, 33-year-old Rigoberto Valles Dominguez, who was arrested Sept. 24 after a standoff at a home in Brighton. According to Littleton police, Snook and a second officer, Jeff Farmer, had responded to a call of shots fired in the area of West Powers Avenue and Bannock Street in northeast Littleton the night of Sept. 20. After Valles Dominguez arriving at the scene they found two people believed to have been involved, one of whom police said was Dominguez. Both suspects fled on foot, with a man police believe was Dominguez entering an apartment building at 183 W. Powers Ave., police said.
