Kiowa Elementary students gathered on March 23 in the school’s gymnasium to welcome Elizabeth Stampede volunteers and kick off the annual Stampede to Read Program. The program began on March 28 and will continue through April. Various Stampede volunteers showed up to encourage the children, including Rodeo Queen Josie Thomas, Attendant Hannah Thomas and rodeo clown J.W. Winklepleck. The Town of Elizabeth and its Historic Advisory Board have released a survey designed to gauge resident knowledge and interest regarding downtown Elizabeth and its associated historic sites. The feedback will help shape possible changes to the municipal code and could impact the future of a potential historic district in the town. The Town of Elizabeth released a statement encouraging residents to participate in the survey: “The Town of Elizabeth and the Historic Advisory Board would like your feedback about Historic Preservation in Elizabeth. The current Municipal Code has similar but not identical sections for Historic Preservation in both Chapters 2 and 16. The Town would like to gather feedback regarding an update to this Municipal Code language in person after the results of this survey have been analyzed. The survey has 18 questions, most of which are multiple-choice. The survey should take five minutes or less to complete. Some questions that participants can expect are: 1.
